Isaac's arm was wrapped around your shoulders and your head was resting on his chest. A small smile was playing around Isaac's lips while he was flipping through all the channels on the television.
Beacon Hills was quiet again. Unusually quiet. Probably it was because vampires were roaming the streets and guarding your house.
You looked up when your phone rang and you frowned your eyebrows when you saw an unknown number on your screen. "Hello?"
"Hello, love." Klaus' warm voice spoke the words you had heard so often before and you licked your lips while you straightened your back. "How is Beacon Hills doing these days?"
Isaac tightened his grip around your shoulders and you swallowed a few times. "Great, Beacon Hills is doing great. The dread doctors are gone and the Chimera's are adjusting to their new lives." You smiled and you cocked your head a little while you stared at the dark streets.
"I assume that means my intervention has worked?"
You nodded, for a moment forgetting that Klaus couldn't see that. "Yes, it worked perfectly. My boyfriend and I are able to enjoy a calm night on the couch together."
For a moment Klaus kept silent. "I do hope you realize that I can ask those vampires to come back to New Orleans at any moment." Klaus spoke softly and you felt a shiver rolling down your spine. "Of course, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't let the poor child I once saved get in trouble. Although..." He paused for a moment and your entire skin started tingling.
You should have known that asking Klaus for help would come at a price. You should have known that he would want something in return. You should have known that sooner or later Klaus would ask a favor. And you should have known that maybe you weren't willing to pay that favor.
"I have to admit that I am not that pleased with those werewolves you associate yourself with." Klaus spoke slowly, as if he wanted to make sure that every word would sound equally important. "Someone like you can get much and much better, don't you think?"
Isaac groaned and he stood up from the couch. "Who the hell does he think he is?" He raised his voice and you sighed.
"Whether your guardian dog likes it or not, I am the one keeping you safe and I am the one who can ask anything I want to ask. I will pick you up tomorrow at seven for a romantic dinner for two." He didn't give you the chance to answer and with your phone in your hand you looked at Isaac who was breathing heavily.
"You're not going, do you hear me?" Isaac stared straight into your eyes, but you shrugged your shoulders and swallowed.
"We know what happens when I don't go, Isaac." You shook your head. "The next bad thing happening to Beacon Hills if I don't go will be Klaus."
Isaac placed his hands in his neck and he bit his lip. "So, this is it? We have to break up because the guy that has saved your life years ago wants to go out with you?"
You sighed and you bent your head staring at your feet. "I don't want to break up with you, Isaac. But I don't want you to be killed either. Please, let me go."
Isaac rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Fine, but if he touches you with even one finger I'll personally find a way to end his miserable eternal life."
