You turned from one side to the other and back. Over and over again. You had no idea what time it was, how much time had passed since Ethan and Aiden had left the hospital. You had no idea how long it would take them to get back.

Your brain kept on showing you pictures of the monsters in their black clothes and with their yellow glowing eyes. The masks they were wearing were grinning at you and they stepped closer and closer, their swords ready to cut you into a thousand pieces.

You were breathing heavily and your heart was racing in your chest. "Aiden..." You frowned your eyebrows and with a shock and a loud scream you sat up in your bed. Your entire body hurt, but something inside of you hurt even more.

Aiden. Something had happened to Aiden. Something terribly bad had happened to Aiden.

Your trembling finger searched for the red button next to your bed. "Melissa?" Your entire body was shaking and you pressed the button again, just to be sure. "Melissa!"

"Sst...(Y/N), it's okay..." Melissa opened the door to your room and closed it behind her. "It's okay, I'm here, nothing can happen to you." She sat down in the chair next to your bed and she grabbed your hand. "You're safe here, I promise." Her cheek was trembling a little and she licked her dry lips.

"Aiden..." You swallowed while shaking your head. "Something has happend to Aiden. Something is wrong. I need to call him." Your eyes were wide open and Melissa bent her head while she stared at her own feet.

She was wearing blue plastic over her shoes and you noticed some drops of blood. "He will be fine, I promise." She stared straight into your eyes, but no matter how soft she spoke, how gently her touch was. She couldn't calm you down.

"I need to know that for sure." You cocked your head and you saw how Melissa sighed while she pressed her phone into your hands. The touchscreen was barely reacting when your fingers tried to type in the numbers, but eventually the phone started ringing.

One time. Two times. Three times. Four times. Voicemail.

You sighed, counted to ten and tried again. Your fingers tapped on your knee and you could hear your heart beat in your own ear.

The phone rang again. One time. Two times. Three times. Four times. Voicemail.

"He's not answering." You gave Melissa her phone back and stepped out of the bed. You knew that you weren't allowed to stand yet. You knew that you were not healthy enough to go anywhere, but Aiden needed you and you had promised to always be there for him.

"You can't go after him, (Y/N)." Melissa grabbed your arms. Her grip was gently, but strong and she carefully pushed you back into your pillows. "Scott will look after him. He will be fine."

He wasn't. He wasn't fine and you knew it.

"Melissa McCall?" Melissa answered her phone before you had even heard it ringing and her mouth formed a straight line while she frowned her forehead. "Bring him in. Right now." She put the phone down and ran out of your room into the hallway. She left the door open and you carefully placed your bare feet on the cold floor again.

"Bring him to the ER."

You reached the door and opened it a little further. The boy you loved had his eyes closed and his hands pressed on a bleeding wound in his stomach. "Aiden!" You wanted to start running, but before you could do so, you felt a pair of strong arms catching you before you could trip over your own feet.

"He'll be okay." Ethan pressed you to his chest and he took a few deep breaths. "He'll be okay, just like you."
