Bleep. Bleep. Bleep. Bleep. Bleep.

The last thing you remembered hearing was Aiden's beating heart. You remembered how you had told yourself to hold onto it. But somehow you must have fallen asleep, must have lost consciousness. Now you were slowly gaining it back and the first thing your heard was beeping.

"Her heart is beating faster again..."

You moaned when you tried to move. There was an itching and burning pain in your side and you could barely get your eyes open.

"It's okay, (Y/N), you're safe now." Aiden squeezed your hand and he pressed a soft kiss on your forehead. "Melissa cleaned and stitched the wound. It might need some time to heal, but it will be fine." His lips touched the tip of your nose and you smiled.

"Is everyone else okay?" Your throat felt soar and the words came out as a whisper, but eventually you managed to open your eyes. You were surrounded by white walls and the beeping machine was showing your steady heart beat.

Aiden was sitting next to your bed. His hand was holding yours and his other hand was tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "No one got hurt. No one apart from you."

You smiled and you sighed relieved. "I hope the demons won't come back..." You tried to turn your head a little, but Aiden stood up and sat down on the bed next to you.

"Easy, easy..." He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and he placed your head on his chest. "You've lost a lot of blood. Just because I said you'll be fine, it doesn't mean you already are, okay?"

You nodded and you regretted it right away. Even nodding hurt.

"We've discovered what those demons are and what they do." Ethan walked a little closer towards the bed and he sat down in the seat his brother had just left empty. "There is nothing to be afraid of as long as you're not possessed by an evil kitsune."

You frowned your eyebrows and right in time you realized that shaking your head was probably not a great idea either. "A what?"

Aiden smiled and he pressed you a little tighter to his chest. His body felt warm and his embrace was comfortable. "A kitsune is a fox spirit. In their evil form they can take over a body. They will use it to cause chaos and pain."

You licked your lips and you felt a shiver down your spine. "Does it..." You swallowed. "Does that mean that there is an evil kitsune thing in this town?"

Aiden and Ethan exchanged a short glance before they both nodded. "But you don't need to worry about that." Aiden looked at you and smiled again. "My brother and I will keep you safe. The only thing you need to do is making sure you'll get better."

You smiled back and the pain was already a lot more bearable right now. "That won't be much of a problem. I'm not gonna let you face that evil thing on your own." You closed your eyes again and Aiden pressed a soft kiss on your cheek.

"No more fighting for you, okay? I thought I had lost you. I never ever want to feel something like that again."
