You slammed the door closed behind you. What did everyone think? Why did they assume you'd automatically do whatever it was they wanted from you? You had enough. You had enough of all the demands, of the witches making assumptions, of...
"Klaus?", you frowned when you saw who was sitting in your kitchen. "What the hell are you doing here? I warn you, I'm in a very bad mood today..."
He stood up, a vague smirk on his face.
"I noticed that much, love... I'm surprised the door survived." He walked towards you in that nonchalant, easy way of him. He'd better not have another favour to ask from you, because you were annoyed enough to take on even Klaus.
You did glance behind you though. You were surprised as well, also over the fact that everything was still hanging on the walls.
"Everyone should just stop bothering me for once." You looked at him, daring him to say something.
"And that includes you, or your family. I owe no one, I do whatever I want. Not what the witches want, not what Elijah wants, and most definitely not what you want."
He shrugged.
"I think I can live with that. Then again, that is not why I am showing up in your kitchen so suddenly."
You put your hands in your side.
"About that. Just because I had to invite you in that time because you were taking me home didn't mean you had an open invitation to get in every time you want to."
"Technically, it did. There is no way you can keep me out now, although I do agree with you it is only polite to wait for your permission. I did not feel for waiting outside for hours until you decided to come home though, so I took a few liberties with that. Sorry about that, sweetheart." His smile was kind of sickening.
You wondered how long he had been there already, after what he had just been saying.
"And you couldn't come back some other time?"
"And let everything I managed to gather for you go to waste?" He put a basket on the table, making an inviting gesture to you.
What the... what had he done? And what was he planning? You approached the table carefully, not completely sure what to expect. After one of the witches had you get a few rats for some kind of spells, you had grown weary of unexpected presents. You looked up at Klaus, who nodded at you, encouraging, which made you pull away the cloth that was covering it.
"You did this? For me?", you asked astonished by what you saw. A bottle of champagne, some baked goodies, and a lot more of your favourite food.
He just smirked, putting back the cloth over the basket and offering you his arm.
"I thought you deserved a small break from everyone pulling at you from every side, love, so I arranged a little outing for just the two of us. I know, I know...", he laughed, "I am kind of pulling at you as well right now, but I do have the feeling you will forgive me for that."
You could. You didn't even see this as another obligation.
"I never knew you were this thoughtful..."
He smiled when he opened the door.
"I guess we all have our unexpected sides."
