You were wearing a bright white gown and a veil was covering your face. Your hand was resting in the strong hand of your father, who seemed to be very pleased that today had finally arrived.

This whole marriage had been his idea. He had found a nice and charming young lord that had wanted to marry you and of course he had said yes without hesitating. Of course he had said yes without talking to you. And of course he had said yes without talking to Ned Stark and his wife. Your father had always believed that a marriage with the Starks was out of his reach.

You knew that Robb Stark had not been out of your reach. When you had told him about everything you felt when you were at Winterfell spending time with him, he had smiled and he had grabbed your hand.

"There is no need to be ashamed of such feelings, my lady", he had said. "Maybe we should allow your butterflies to play with mine." He had pressed a soft kiss on your knuckles and you had giggled.

Since that day visiting Winterfell had become the highlight of your existence. You had always ordered your handmaiden to make a new dress and you were always surprised by Robb, who had always managed to come up with something new and romantic.

One day he had taken you to the Godswood. He had filled a small basket with all the tasty little treats he had been able to find in the kitchen and he had carried a plaid to make sure your new dress wouldn't get dirty.

That afternoon the two of you had been smiling and laughing. You had begged him for a small kiss and eventually he had given in. It had been your very first kiss and it had been perfect. That day you had asked him if he believed there was chance the two of you would be able to marry.

But Robb had never gotten the chance to talk about it with his parents.

Right after you had come back from your visit to Winterfell your father had told you that you were going to get married. Proudly he had told you about the Lord that had accepted your hand. He had described the castle. He had described the young man. And he had not been able to hide his pride.

You had not wanted to ruin the moment. You had not wanted to tell him that you had actually hoped to be able to marry Robb. You had not had the courage to ask him to cancel the wedding so there was room for another one. You had known what kind of influence that would have had on the bond between your house and the house of your man to be. With trembling fingers you had written the letter that would be sent to Winterfell to invite them to the ceremony.

Robb had never sent anything back, but you hoped that he would at least be here today. This was the most important day of your life and Robb had to be a part of that.

Your father started walking and you followed his slow and steady steps. As soon as you entered the clearing your glance found Robb's bright gaze. You saw a reflection of the pain you were feeling in his beautiful eyes and you bent your head.

If only he had been able to talk to his parents about your possible marriage sooner.

If only you had dared to tell your father that you had already found a high lord to marry.

If only the Robb and you had never fallen in love in the first place.
