At dinner, Hermione was well enough to go down to the Great Hall.
Harry and Ron were piling food on a plate from an empty seat.
"I don't want to go up there! I was awful to her earlier. She probably hates me."
"Go! She'll be glad to see you. If she isn't, just apologize."
Hermione was about to enter the hall when someone grabbed her hand.
"Granger. I just came from the Hospital wing to bring you dinner. I'm glad you're feeling better. I'll go in first so your little pals don't get their panties in a wad. Eat a little too. See you later."
He pecked her on the cheek and released her hand after handing her the plate of cold food. She waited a minute and ate a little before she went into the Great Hall, running smack into Ron. They both fell back and the plate of food clattered to the floor.
"Hermione! I'm sorry. I didn't know you were there. Here, let me help you up."
He offered her a hand and heaved her off of the floor.
"It's ok, really. Are you alright? I should have been watching where I was going. I'm just not myself these days."
"Well I'm glad you're alright."
"Ron. You have a little food on your shirt."
She swept her finger through the food and wiped it on his face and giggled.
"Well speak for yourself, Hermione!"
He took a handful of food off the plate and slapped it on her head.
"Oh Weasley! You're dead!"
She took another handful and threw it onto his face. Ron took some and threw it into her hair.
"Stop it you guys! You're going to get us in-"
"Trouble. Ron, Harry, Hermione? I expected better from the two of you. Come on! I believe Professor Mcgonagall will have something for the three of you."
"Percy! Come on! Your own brother?"
"I'm head boy, Ronald! Now come!"
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were marched to Professor Mcgonagall's office only to have Percy realize that she was at dinner. They were let off with a warning and returned to dinner. The hall was being cleared out and all of the food was gone.
"I'm sorry Hermione. You must be hungry."
"I'm actually fine. I had dinner in the hospital wing before I came down. Thank you, though. You both are great to me. I have to run to Professor Dumbledore and ask him something really quick before I go to my dorm. You two go ahead of me."
"Ok Hermione. Be careful not to get attacked by another troll!"
"Ha-ha! Very funny, Ronald."
She walked up to Professor Dumbledore and tapped on his shoulder.
"Sir? Professor? May I ask you something?"
"Why Mrs. Granger! How pleasant to see you well again. What may I do for you?"
"Well, Professor, I was hoping to get some answers. I believe you know that I'm muggle born. I was wondering if there was a possibility of me doing a study on muggle-wizard relations. Like how they would react if they were told about the wizarding community. I would have someone perform the obliviate charm on them afterwards so that we aren't exposed but it would be brilliant to know about this."
"Oh, Mrs. Granger. I don't believe that would be possible. It is too dangerous. It has also been done. Some niggles still remembered the event even after the obliviate charm. I'm sorry. I know you must be rather curious."
"It's ok Professor. I was just a little curious. It's nothing that I can't get over. I just wanted something to pass the time a little. Thank you for your time."
She began her journey to the Gryffindor tower. Right outside of the common room, next to the Fat Lady portrait, stood Draco. He was frowning. But not in an angry or bored way.
"Granger. You're going to get in trouble, staying out so late. You already have a warning."
"Draco! Are you ok? You don't look happy."
"I'm fine. You look a little pale. Are you ok? Are you feeling ill again? We didn't finish our conversation earlier. I don't want you to get sick whenever your friends talk about me. Maybe we should end things. I still like you, Granger. But I think it'll be better for you if we didn't see each other. Have a good ni-"
"Butterbeer Beans!"
The portrait swung open and Hermione ran inside, feeling the tears burning her eyes. She ran up to her dorm and flung herself onto her bed.
