She sat in that position for what seemed like hours when she heard the door open and close.
"Hermione?" Ron wheeled towards her and placed his hand on her back "Come on, let's go back inside. I shouldn't even be out of bed. Come on." He tugged on her arm as she slowly stood up. She bent down and kissed his cheek, feeling it get hot under her lips. She got behind his wheelchair and pushed him back to his bed, dragging the palms of her hands over her eyes as she went.
"Remind me to thank you and Harry later for being such great friends." She helped Ron back into bad and watched his smile fade. "Friends? Ye-yeah. You're welcome." He placed an obviously forced smile onto his lips
"I'll come visit you tomorrow, Ronald," she gave him a quick half-hug before rushing to find and stop Harry from killing Draco.
"What did you do to her? I swear to Godric, Malfoy!"
"I didn't do anything, Potter! She hurt me!"
They were screaming down the corridor. She ran to the source and found Harry pushing Draco against the wall, jabbing his wand into Draco's neck. Draco had bruises forming around his eye and his lip was split.
"Stop, Harry!" He ignored her.
"What did you do to her?"
"Why don't you ask her for yourself?" Draco smirked as Harry released him to look at her.
"He didn't do anything. He just told me something that I didn't want to hear. I wanted us to be friends and he spoke otherwise. I'm sorry for worrying you." Harry left Draco to hug Hermione. He turned away from the bleeding Draco to walk her back to the Gryffindor common room. As she was about to walk up the stairs to the girls' dormitory, Harry caught her wrist. "Hermione, I don't want you around him anymore. He's bad news. He'll only hurt you more," She struggled to pull her arm from his grip. "Just promise me you won't hang out with him anymore? Please? You're like a sister to me, Hermione. Promise me then I'll let you go." She nodded her head and pulled her wrist free, rubbing it to soothe the rawness on it. She turned and started up the stairs when Harry spoke again, "Thank you for listening, Hermione. Goodnight." She hid a smile that fought her cheeks as she came to the door to her Dorm. She opened it, changed into her sleeping gown, and crawled into bed.
