Chapter 44: His vs Hers

One morning, Draco was walking with Hermione to their next class, as they usually did, and Fred and George walked up with Ginny.
"Mione, mind if I have a chat with my boyfriend?" She put extra emphasis on the word 'boyfriend.'
"Um, sure Gin. Walk with me, twins?"
The boys walked Hermione down the hall. She glanced over her shoulder and put on a curious glance, silently saying 'what did you do' with her eyes. He shrugged and took Ginny's hand. They walked in the opposite direction and into the nearest classroom.
They checked to see if it was empty before Ginny spoke.
"We need to break up. And soon. Things with Cho and Harry are falling fast, and I need to swoop in and start being friends before someone else does. I hope you understand."
Draco scoffed.
"Sure, Weaselette. When do you want to break it off?"
"Tomorrow. Public or private?"
"Public, definitely. Whose fault?"
"Let's place equal the blame, but nothing gross like cheating or flirting. Simple argument. Family disagreement. Mine vs yours. You got a letter and I got one too. Simple?"
"Ok. Pleasure doing business with you." He held out a hand to shake, and she took it, "I hope it works out with Potter."
"I hope it works out with Hermione. But don't break her, Draco. She's had enough hurt to last her a lifetime."
They left the room and parted ways, not turning back for a second glance.
