"I don't know what you're talking about, Ronald."
She grinned.
"Yeah Ron, how could someone be two places at once?" Harry mirrored Hermione's grin. They had just saved Buckbeak and Sirius from execution. It turns out that Sirius had been innocent and Peter Pettigrew was an animagus. He had transformed into a rat and had been Ron's pet for twelve years. Long story short, Peter Pettigrew=bad. Sirius Black=good. Remus Lupid=werewolf. They laughed at Ron's confused glare. They had time traveled without him. And it was a lot of fun.
Hermione scurried out of the Hospital wing with hopes of running into Draco, who had been released five minutes earlier. She ran down the corridors and right into his back. They both stumbles and he whipped around.
"Watch it!" He screamed before seeing who had run into him. "Oh, I'm sorry. There goes my temper getting the best of me. Are you feeling better?"
She nods her head and throws her arms around him.
"I want us to be friends, Draco. Until we can resolve our argument and you can trust me again, I want us to be friends." He pushed her off of his body. His face fell to the floor and he shook his head.
"You don't get it, do you? I don't want to be friends. We can't be friends. I'm in love with you, Hermione Granger." He looked up. She noticed that his eyes were glossy and grey. "I'm in love with your eyes. Your hair. Your intellegence. I can't get enough of your smile or your laughter. You have consumed my mind since the day you ran into me at the station. And that was only the beginning! Your soul has taken control of me. Your scent is all I smell anymore. If I even look at someone with your color hair, I hope to Salazar that it's you. I feel your hands in my blankets because your skin is so soft. At dinner, all I hear is you. Over everyone in the Great hall, I only hear you. So no, we can't be friends. We can never be just friends. You can't be just friends with someone you are so consumed with that your stomach hurts when you see them with anyone else. I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way." He turns and walks away, ignoring the tears that have fallen from his dark grey eyes. She wipes her own cheeks and turn to re-enter the Hospital Wing.
"Hermione? What's wrong?"
She immediately regretted the decision to return to the Hospital. How could she explain this to them? They would hate her. Abandon her. Leave her to be alone forever.
"Oh, nothing. I'm just happy that Ron is feeling better," she made her decision, "Harry? Can I speak with you? In private?" Harry looked concerned. He took one last glance at Ron and followed Hermione to the hall. Once she was sure that they were alone, she threw her arms around Harry's shoulders and began to sob rather loudly.
"Hermione, what's wrong? Did someone hurt you?" She didn't reply. She just sobbed louder. Harry pushed Hermione off of his shoulders and he held her's with his arms stretched out. She covered her face with her hands and released another loud sob. "Hermione, tell me who hurt you. Tell me, please.I want to help." He pulled her chin up so that she would look at him. "Tell me?" He barely spoke above a whisper. She spoke one word. She couldn't muster the courage to say his name. Her voice wouldn't allow it. She spoke one single word and he ran, knowing exactly who it was. "Roof," She mumbled, and he was off. Hermione fell to the floor and sobbed into her knees, praying that Harry doesn't hurt him as well as for the courage and strength to run after him.
