"Mum sent me a letter today," spoke a saddened Ginny.
"What did it say, Gin?" Draco and Ginny had rehearsed this conversation all night last night.
"She was pissed that we were dating."
Draco dropped his knife onto his plate, as planned, and slammed his fist hard on the table. This called the attention to the rest of the hall.
"I knew this would happen." he mumbled just loud enough for the surrounding students to hear.
"What do you mean?" Ginny squeezed his arm.
"My father sent me a howler last night, saying that I couldn't be with a blood traitor. His words. Well, excluding some profanity. I was gonna ignore it, but now that you've received a letter-"
Ginny pulled close to his shoulder, nuzzling into his chest.
"I'm going to miss you, Draco."
His head popped up.
"What do you mean? Are you sayin. We break up?"
He stood up, letting Ginny's arms fall.
"Did you think we were going to disobey our families?"
She was standing now, too. Hands on hips, eyebrows scrunched, face turning red at all of the attention they were receiving.
"Did you think we were going to let them decide who we date and how we live our lives?"
His face was red with (fake) anger, eyes piercing daggers into Ginny's. Hermione, fretting violence from the fake couple, stood and was standing behind her best friend.
"Hey, let's go. He isn't worth it."
These words pierced Draco's heart.
"Let me fight my own battles, Hermione!"
Hermione let go of her shoulder but didn't return to her seat, instead calling for Harry to stand.
"You know what, I don't care anymore! Do what you want, Weaselette, but we're through!"
Draco stormed off, hiding a smirk from the public eye.
"Arse!" She called out, collapsing into Hermione's open arms. She fought a grin and pushed some tears out of her eyes.
"Hey, great performance," whispered Hermione. She was informed of the break-up last night.
"Thanks." replied Ginny.
"Now give it 2 weeks and go after Harry."
Ginny smiled and giggled into Hermione's shoulder. They sat and Ginny faked the tears the rest of the day.
