Chapter 46: Decrees for the Miserable

Two months had passed and Weasley's Wizard Wheezes had taken off with a greater popularity than Harry himself. Though, Dumbledore had disappeared. Umbridge is headmistress and the wall near the Great Hall was covered in framed school rules.
"'Boys and Girls are not to be closer than 8 inches apart! Quidditch Matches are hereby cancelled. All brooms are to be turned into the high inquisitor for safe keeping!' What is this shit!"
"Language, Draco! She could hear!"
Hermione and Draco were gawking at the wall of Educational Decrees. There were over 100 of them. Umbridge was taking over the school.
"I have to warn you, Umbridge is planning for the Inquisitorial Squad to hunt down the DA. She's going to use Veritaserum on one of the members. You can't be in there when she does. Please, she's planning it this week. I don't want you to get in trouble."
Hermione contemplated this information. But she decided against his warning. If Umbridge was gonna use Veritaserum, and Hermione warned the DA, their plans to hide would be shared.
"Umbridge would know. She would find out from whoever she's going to use the potion on. I have to be there for Harry, Fred, and Ron. And Ginny. Don't forget that you broke her heart." Hermione nudged Draco with her elbow in a teasing manner. He rolled his eyes and softly punched her arm.
"Come on, let's get to the library so we can do Snape's essay." He grabbed her elbow and dragged her to the library. If anyone were to see them and didn't know how close they were, they would mistake Draco and Hermione as a couple. They didn't mind. Hermione loved Fred dearly, and Draco knew that. He wasn't going to step in if it was going to make her unhappy.
