"Hermione? What's wrong?"
"I thought I saw- never mind."
They continued up to the hill. The man wih the axe walks to where Buckbeak lay. He slams his axe into the ground. Hermione is overcome with grief. With anger. And with longing to be in his arms. For a second she feels a warmth around her that reminds her of Draco. She opens her eyes to see herself in Ron's arms. She feels fear on top of all her other emotions. Then Harry decides he needs to be apart of the hug. He leans his head on her back and places his hands on her shoulders. And that's when she realized that things could always become more awkward. She felt her face get hot and tore from Ron's embrace and Harry's sad attempt of an embrace. She storms up the hill and to the Slyherin common room door. She sits in the corner and cries. She cries for Buckbeak. She cries for Draco. She cries for her fucked up feelings for him. And the confusion she feels because she has similarly fucked up feelings for Ron. She sobs. She weeps. Her eyes break the dam that hold the salty tears back from falling down her face. Whatever you want the call it, it's happening. She sits there for who knows how long when a warm breath shuffles her hair and causes goosebumps on the back of her neck.
"I'm sorry for being an arse out there. I have no excuse."
This voice was warm and make the knot in her stomach loosen.
"Why do you call me Granger? Why not my first name?" The words fall out of her mouth before she could stop them.
He paused and didn't answer. After some moments of silence, he lifts her chin to look into his eyes. She throws herself into his chest and weeps, drenching his vest. "I won't stop calling you Granger until-"
She looked up into his brilliantly silver eyes.
"until I become a Malfoy," she finished his sentence. Her golden eyes fell to his pink lips. She crawled out of his embrace and wiped her cheeks.
"I, um, have to go. The boys are waiting for me. I ran off from them. I'm sorry for sitting here. I hope-" something caught in her throat. Her vision began to blur with tears, "I hope I didn't embarrass you." She ran off to the courtyard looking for the boys. Just as she begins to catch up to the boys, a large black dog runs after Ron. He grabs onto his ankle with his overgrown bite and drags him into a small opening underneath the Whomping Willow. She freezes and stares in disbelief at what just happened. Then she runs.
