She had only received a few letters from Harry over the summer. Ron hadn't sent a single one. But Draco kept his promise and they've exchanged letters every week. This made her forget about Ronald's outburst on the train last year. But only for a little while. She regretted saying a lot of those things and she hoped that he had regretted some of the things he said. But probably not, considering that they hardly talked at the Quidditch World Championships.
She had gotten to see Draco at the Championship game, too. And oh Merlin has puberty been kind to him. His eyes were so silver, like a freshly minted coin. His hair was so blond, like a white paint color that had faded due to time. His skin reminded her of a ghost, it was so pale. His body was sculpted and strong. His voice wasn't at all squeaky like Harry's and Ron's were. In fact, his voice made her toes curl and it sent chills down her spine. Oh, Merlin! Why did he have to be this cute? Never once in his many letters did he mention becoming 10 times cuter in a matter of months. He wasn't just cute. He was hot. Very hot.
She noticed his looks and began to fan herself. She pumped the collar of her shirt in order to cool herself down.
"Mione, you alright?"
She turned to Ginny and smiled.
"I'm fine Gin, just a little hot."
Hermione looked back down at Draco and smiled. She couldn't run to hug him because he hadn't told his father yet. She mouthed the words 'tell him' to Draco and nodded her head towards Lucius.
'Not yet' he mouthed in response. She looked at her feet and sighed.
"Ok, Mione. What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I was just thinking about how my boyfriend won't tell his father about us."
She had spoken louder at the word 'boyfriend' so that Draco would hear.
"Isn't Draco your boyfriend?" whispered Ginny.
"Yes. He won't tell his father and I'm not going to do it for him."
She glared at Draco and nodded back at his father, who was in a heated discussion with Ron's father and Cedric's father. Draco shook his head and waved for her to come closer.
"I- I can't tell him today. Soon, I promise. Please don't be mad."
"I told my parents! You should really meet them. And we both told our closest friends! You can't lie to your parents forever. Please tell them today. Please?"
"I'll tell them another day. Please respect that." He took her chin and raised it to his eye level, "This isn't easy for me. I've been lying to my parents all summer. You have no idea how many times Mother and Aunt Bella have asked me if I had a girlfriend. Please be supportive."
"I'm trying, Draco. I just want to be open to your parents and come home with you at Christmas or something."
"No! You-you can't come over for Christmas. Aunt Bella isn't very respectful of mudb- muggle borns. She wouldn't approve even if my parents did, which is unlikely."
"Ok, but maybe you could come to The Burrow this year. Please? After you tell your parents though. I want to finally out in the open."
"I'll do it soon, I promise."
"Ok. I love you, Draco."
"Love you too, Granger."
She pecked his cheek and hurried back to Ginny before Lucius noticed. Her face burned and turned as red as her best friend's hair. Her knees began to shake and threatened to buckle under her. Just feeling his skin under her lips made her heart beat faster. Yup, she was in love. And her nervous system knew all too well about her feelings for Draco Malfoy.
