who cares if Sulu has a male partner? I think the movie did it because the original actor who played Sulu before the modern movies was gay, or it just could've been that they wanted a gay person on the USS Enterprise. BUT WHO CARES if Sulu is gay or not?! That shouldn't stop people from watching the movie altogether.
I mean Sulu's saving the universe and you're hatin on him because he's gay?
It only shows his partner, like twice. For a total of ten seconds. And they barely show any PDA. They don't even kiss! I don't understand the big deal about it.
