Chapter 22

Lin's POV

Today Jessie and I would be going to a random interview to explain the kidnapping incident. As much as Jessie didn't want to do it, I convinced her that we should so people would quiet down a bit.

"Niñita! Let's goo! The interview isn't going to interview itself!" I yelled for Jessie.

"I am coming Lin-Dad!" Jessie sassed.

"Come on Jessie! You're just jealous because MY hair looks better than yours today!" I sassed back.

"Yeah right! One sec!" She yelled back. She ran out of her room to me. "Sorry but since Pippa told me about this winged eyeliner trick I needed to do it today. Especially with this interview today."

We walk outside into the oddly warm weather. And by warm I mean 40 degrees.

"So Lin, where is the interview?" Jessie asks me when we get into the car.

"It's at the theatre. It's just easier for us because of the show and everything." I inform her. "Hey do you want to do a stage door today?"

"Yeah sure! I want to meet some fans anyway. Get involved in with the Linnamon Rolls." Jessie responds.

"Sweet." I respond and sigh. "Great. Traffic. Sometimes I feel like we should move to avoid this but eh."

"I agree, but really NYC is the home of Broadway. You can't get that anywhere else. Ya know?" Jessie says and I nod. Broadway is really my home. I stayed here so many nights because I was too tired to drive home after an In The Heights rehearsal. Never forget.

I yawn."Why did the interview have to be at nine in the morning?" It was currently 8:30.

"Lin, I got up at 5:45 this morning while I had to force you up. Mr. 'it's only 7:30 I'll be up at 8.' Don't complain dad." Jessie sassed.

"Young lady I am the only one who is allowed to sass." I point out.

"Sure. Good luck saying that to Groff." Jessie told me.

"Ok me AND Groff." I sighed.

Le time skip

After about 5 minutes in traffic we finally got to the theatre.

"FINALLY!" I yelled as we walked into the theatre.

"Mr. Manuel Miranda." A lady said to me. She pronounced my name 'Manuwell' and not 'Manwell' people these days.

"It's Manuel." I tell her politely.

"Oh sorry. The interview starts in five minutes. We need you and Jessie to go get touched up. Especially with that eyeliner." She says looking at Jessie.

Jessie looks down and sighs. "I spent twenty minutes on this but whatever..." She mumbles.

"Actually miss I think Jessie's eyeliner looks fine." I defend her and I see Jessie smile.

The lady sighs. "Well if you really want your 'daughter' to look like that on live television..." The lady starts.

"Excuse me!" I yell. "SHE IS MY DAUGHTER ADOPTED OR NOT! I ALSO THINK SHE LOOKS PERFECTLY FINE! Let's go Niñita."

Jessie looks kind of panicked for a second but nods. "Thank you Lin." Jessie whispers.

I nod and hug her. "You look beautiful Niñita. You need to teach me that eyeliner trick too by the way. Let's go this interview starts in three minutes."
