Chapter 49

Jessie's POV

Pippa tells me more and more about my life, and that I have a boyfriend named Toby. "I have a boyfriend?" I ask Pippa and she laughs.

"Yeah, he's coming in a few minutes to get lunch with you in the cafeteria."

"Okay, do I need to change?" I ask, referring to my hospital gown.

"If he truly likes you, he'll be fine with you in a hospital gown." Pippa laughs.

"Where is she?" I hear a boy ask a nurse. A guy comes into my room, who I assume is Toby. "Jessie!" He says and hugs me.

"Are you Toby?" I ask awkwardly.

"Yeah, how is she Pippa?" Toby asks.

"She's good, temporary memory loss, but it should come back." Pippa explains.

"Do you want to get lunch?" Toby asks me and I nod. "Let's go."

We walk down the hall when he asks me, "Do you really not remember me?"

"I know we have something, I just don't remember." I sigh. "I just need to remember."

He kisses me on the cheek. "I need you to remember us. What can I do to make you remember?"

"I need time. I don't even know if Lin's actually my dad." I say.

"He is, now let's go get lunch." He offers and we go into the cafeteria.
