Chapter 29

Jessie's POV

End of school

After the best first day I could ask for I got everyone's number. "Talk to me later, we need to start hanging out again. My mom really misses you." Amber tells me and she walks out of the school.

Everyone else says goodbye and leaves except for Tobias.

"Toby aren't you going to leave? I have to wait 15 more minutes." I tell him and he turns to me.

"Jessie, I know it's only one day but I really like you." He starts.

"I really like you too, Tob-" I begin but he cuts me off.

"Will you be my girlfriend? You dot have to, I know it's really sudden but I really like you and-" He starts rambling.

"Toby, yes. But I want to get to know you more. For now yes." I say and he smiles.

"Yes!" Toby says excitedly and kisses me on the cheek. "So Friday, you, me, and the group will go see Finding Dory and get dinner after. Ok?" He asks me and I nod.

I check my phone and get a text from the driver. "I got to go! See you tomorrow!" I say and kiss Toby on the cheek and go out the door. "There's the car!" I say and open the door.

"Hey Jessie! Ready to go to the theatre? I'm Joe by the way." He says and I nod. "How was your first day?" He asks me and starts to drive.

"It was great! I made a new group of friends! How was your day Joe?" I ask him and he smiles.

"Same old, same old." He says and I get a text from Toby. "Who's that you're texting?" He asks me.

"One of my friends, Toby. He was my guide today at school. We have the same classes." I say blandly, excluding the part that he was my 'boyfriend'.

"Ah I see. Ok do what you do. Aw man I just quoted Hamilton. I need to stop." He says. "You want to listen to Hamilton?" He asks and I nod.

I read the text from Toby.

Hey! What are you up to?

I laugh.

Tobias, we saw each other five minutes ago. You're being weird.

I get a quick response.

Um I'm your bf. I have the right to be weird. I gtg, see you later babe.

My heart flutters at the word.

See you later babe.

This feels weird. He's taking this really fast. Tomorrow I'll talk to him.
