"Uh, Jasiah?" Ponyboy said after a few minutes. He'd never called me by my first name, something might be wrong. "Yeah Ponyboy?" "You know how I promised you to never leave your side?" "Yeah, I remember, and I will never forget." "Please, PLEASE promise me the same." He looked sad when I looked him in the eyes, I could see tears starting to come at the bottom of his eyelids. "Yes, I will, but what's wrong." " nothing but do you mean it, because I don't want to lose you." He was afraid I'd leave him for Trent. Did he feel that bad about it? "I mean it. I love you and loving Trent was old news, I have you now, and I will never let go." He smiled a small smile and hugged me. He hid his head in my shoulder and held me tight, he was cherishing the moment and I was too, I hugged him back like there was no tomorrow. Besides, Trent is just a friend now, right? I thought to myself.
Ponyboy's POV
Trent better be just a friend or I think I might die.
Jesse's POV
He really thought I was going to leave him. "Let's watch a movie together tonight, sound good?" I asked "yeah, it sounds fantastic" he said without letting go. He sounded like he was breathing out the words rather than saying them, like a whisper out loud, if that's a thing. He also sounded like he was crying.
*TIME JUMP TO THE MOVIES*
Ponyboy's POV
We got seats at the Drive-in with our cokes and Popcorn. I was so happy to be with her. She lit up my mood like Dally lit up his cigarette. Every time he was nervous or stressed, he'd lit it up and everything was calmer and better. She was my cigarette and I was addicted. I love her so much. We watched the movie, and this time I surprisingly didn't accidentally kiss her lips. I had my arm around her and she rested her head on my shoulders the whole time. The movie ended and we walked home. Trent. He was walking again. Ugh. "Trent!" Jesse said "hi Jesse!" He said back. He looked at me. "Hi. I'm so sorry I haven't introduced myself all this time. I'm Trent" he held out his hand to shake and I took it. "I'm Ponyboy" I said, he was ten times better than me and that made me feel insecure. I was hesitant to say my name but I did anyway. "Hi Ponyboy, nice to meet you." Then they were talking and then we walked off.
