Emily's house is so beautiful and it's clearly that she gets a good salary. We walk out to a beautiful kitchen where she takes two cocktail glasses and places it on the black marble counter.
"Do you like strawberry daiquiri?" Emily asks.
"Yes." I say. It's gonna be weird because it's been so long since I've drank alcohol, I just don't hope that I'll blab on about my private life. I don't want anyone at Shady Records to know much about my situation because I don't want them so close into my private life. I don't want them to treat me differently just because my husband is dead and I'm now a single mom.
"Then be aware that I make the best strawberry daiquiris." She says.
"Then you better not disappoint me now." I giggle.
"I won't." She giggles and begins to mix. When she's mixed the drink then we walk into the living room and sit, she puts on some music and "Born this way" by Lady Gaga is playing through the speakers now. I take a sip of the drink and Emily is right, it's really good.
"Holy shit." I burst out. "It's really good."
"I told you so." Emily giggles and leans back. "So.. How do you like working at Shady Records so far, besides with Marshall being an ass?"
"It's okay." I say smiling.
"It's okay?" Emily asks. "Most people would be excited to work there."
"Most people would probably also get along with Marshall." I say feeling really weird about using his name.
"Listen.. Marshall can be a little hard to break the ice with.."
"He doesn't like me." I cut her off. There's no need for her to be polite about it because I know he doesn't like me.
"Do you wanna know why?" Emily now asks me. I'm a little surprised because I didn't think there would be a specific reason for him to not like me, I just thought he's like that because I'm a woman or something.
"Yes." I say.
"You gave him an attitude the first day you came there and I know you probably didn't do it intentionally but it's enough to piss Marshall off." Emily explains. I don't understand it because we barely talked to each other the first day, we never really talk and when we do then he gives me an attitude.
"I gave him an attitude?" I ask.
"It was something with that he wanted to show you around and then you just told him that Paul was gonna do that with a bit of a bitchy tone." Emily explains. Is that what he's so angry about? Because he didn't get to show me around? And I didn't say it in a bitchy way.
"I didn't say it in a bitchy way." I assure her.
"It's just a principle for Marshall, you know? He doesn't understand why you wouldn't take the offer, after all.. It's him you were gonna work for." Emily explains.
"I didn't think about it like that. Paul had already offered it to me, that's why I rejected him. I was really not trying to be a bitch or anything." I say. I can't believe that he's so angry about that, I mean.. Who does he think he is? I'm not gonna be all down at his feet just because he's Eminem, no way!
"Hey, don't shoot the messenger." Emily says.
"I'm not.. I just.. Do you think I should apologize when he comes back from New York?" I ask. Marshall flew off to New York last night and he's gonna be back in a week.
"It's up to you." Emily shrugs. I don't know if I should apologize because I don't think I've done anything wrong, but I maybe have to do it so we can move on. It irritates me that I have to suck it up to him when I don't even like him. I hate that I have to apologize to him when I haven't done anything wrong. "Let's talk about something else because we're gonna have fun tonight and it's no fun to talk about your pissy boss." I like her sense of humor, even though she seems pretty close with Marshall then she can really see it from my perspective.
