Chapter 42: The Tragedy

Kayla's POV
Today I was going to the mall to hang out with Jace. It was nice being just friends with him, it was less stressful. I made my way out of bed and headed downstairs for breakfast,  I ate a granola bar and headed to take a shower. I got dressed ( Outfit above) and headed downstairs.

I texted Jace to see If he was ready. 

Kayla💖: Hey, You ready to go to the mall?.

Jace❤: Yeah, meet me outside.

Kayla 💖 : Okay.

I put my phone back in my pocket,  grabbed my purse, and walked out of my house. Jace was already waiting outside.

Jace said" Hey Kay Kay".

I smiled" Hey Norman, You ready?".

Jace nodded and we walked to the mall, we just walked around talking and we got coffee and just hung out.  I bought a new pair of jeans and some pink converse.

After a while, we decided to head home... As we reached my house I noticed my front door was open. I ran into my house and saw my dad laying on the floor unconscious.

I kneeled down next to him shaking him and crying" Dad, Wake up". But he wasn't waking up.

Jace came over to me with an alarmed and worried look on his face, I yelled" Call 911".

Jace quickly pulled out his phone and dialed 911.. he gave them the address. They arrived 7 minutes later.

Jace pulled me away so the paramedics could help my dad and take him to the hospital. I was so scared, I hoped my dad was going to be okay.

After the paramedics got my dad into ambulance, I said" Jace,  I need to get to the hospital now".

Jace nodded" Okay my mom can take us".

I nodded while crying, Jace ran over to his house and asked his mom to drive us to the hospital. I locked my front door and got in the back seat. Jace was sitting in the front seat.

We arrived at the hospital and I ran inside to the front desk with Jace behind me.

I said to the nurse" My dad just came in by ambulance".

The nurse said " I'm Sorry but your going to have to wait until we're allowed to take you back there".

I nodded and sat down in the waiting room, all these bad thoughts were going through my head.

1 hour later

We were in the waiting room for about an hour when the nurse finally came out and took us back to my dad's room.

The doctor was already in the room waiting for us....

Jace and I walked into the hospital room when the doctor said" Hi, I'm Dr.Greene, I'm sorry to say this but we were unable to save your father,  he had a heart attack and we were too late, I'm so sorry for your loss".

When I heard that my knees buckled, I fell to the ground crying so hard. It felt like my whole world just crumbled to pieces. My whole family was gone...

Jace kneeled down next to me and hugged me tightly" I'm so sorry Kayla".

I cried even harder.. I wished this was all a nightmare

But it was true....

Jace called his mom to come to the hospital.. Then He continued hugging Me.

When Mrs. Norman arrived at the hospital she came into the hospital room and saw Jace comforting me and she said" I'm so sorry Kayla".

While I was crying I mumbled" I have no family, No where to live, nothing anymore".

Mrs. Norman said" You can stay with us, We have a guest room, it's gonna be okay".

I wiped some of my tears and walked over to my dad's hospital bed.. it was time to say goodbye. I really didn't want to. It was so hard. 

I grabbed my dad's cold hand and spoke, I barely had a voice" Dad, I'm going to miss you so much,  I wish it didn't end like this... I want you to know that I love you so much....".

That's all I could manage to say without bursting into tears...

After I said my goodbye, Mrs Norman said we should leave. We left the hospital and I went and got clothes and stuff I needed from my house since I was staying at Jace's house.

I wouldn't speak to anyone.... I hadn't said one word since we left the hospital. I didn't feel like talking to anyone.

I went over to Jace's house and Mrs Norman showed me to the guest bedroom. I set my stuff down and closed the door. I laid on the guest bed and just cried and cried.

Then I heard a knock on my door, Jace came in and said" Dinners ready if your hungry".

I nodded and buried my head in my knees... I then felt warm arms around me. It was Jace...

I cuddled up to him and cried as much as I possibly could..

I ended up crying myself to sleep in his arms.
