Mia, she was such a good friend. We shared secrets with one another, we played games, and had the time of our lives together. Then she had to leave me at the age of thirteen. She suicided, depression was real for her at the time. It has been a year now and no one can remember her but me.
"Mother do you remember my friend Mia?" I say to her at dinner.
"Who's that?" she says and scoops a handful of grapes onto her plate.
"You know, Mia, she died last year from suicide? She was my best friend?" I say exasperated.
"Well that very sad, I didnt know you had any friends, none the less one that suicided" she says and causally plops a grape into her mouth. I can't believe it. Everyone has forgotten about her. Even when I went to see her parents with a bunch of her stuff, they didn't even remember her. I want to shout and scream. SHE WAS REAL! YOU GAVE BIRTH TO HER! To them, but they don't remember. Everyone thinks I am crazy, but I know Mia was real. I have picture evidence of us! Still no one will remember.
My dear friend, what happened to you memories?
