"Mom........ do you remember me?" I ask her, she looks at me with curiosity.
"Nope, can't remember a darn thing," She says in her original accent.
Tears glistened in my eyes as I take her hands in mine. I stare into her eyes, hoping, pleading, to see some recognition in those eyes. After a while, I pulled away, knowing it was hopeless. I did this to her, to my own mother. The organization of EATERS told me to hit the red button when a green light started to flash on the keyboard. I did what I was told because it was my job, but now..........
My mom doesn't remember me!
Stupid virus, stupid EATERS, stupid being immune. I had no idea my mom was in the group of rebels trying to defeat EATERS. I just did as I was told. Mom.....mom. EATERS wanted to make the perfect world after the famine of twenty-twenty-nine, they wanted to make it so everyone could have food, so they took apart of the population and put them in slaves camps to grow food. I had no idea. I had no idea until my mom recalled this, but she couldn't recall my name. My name was a name she spoke so many times throughout the famine when a virus spread through the potatoes that killed half the population. EATERS saw me on the street eating a potato raw, so they took me in. I haven't seen my mom until now, and she can't remember me. My mom looks at me like I am an awful person.
"You did this to me didn't you, I can't remember anything about you or anyone, just the virus and the famine, but I see it in your eyes" She shouts at me as I stumble backward, surprised at the sudden outburst, " You did this to me"
My tears start to overflow my eyes. They pour out onto the floor.
"They made my do it" I stifle out in a sob of tears, "I had no idea it was you"
Then my mom stands up and puts her hand on my shoulder. She smiles.
"Then together we can take this place down"
But at least we can try......
