He was tired, sleepy, and desperately needed caffeine.

So as he stepped groggily down the steps that would lead to Topanga's, the thing he least expected to see was a gorgeous blonde with a surprised look on her face.

Her hair was tied up in a messy bun that let loose strands frame her face. She wore a loose purple t-shirt and an apron was fastened tightly around her waist. With a cloth in hand she ceased wiping the counter and smiled up at him.

He suddenly felt very awake. She did more than any caffeinated drink could.

"Josh." She breathed out, feeling just as shocked as he was.

He didn't exactly plan on coming here, but he wasn't really thinking straight then with his mind delirious from exhaustion.

"Maya." A smile spread across his face as she stepped out from behind the counter and towards him.

"Last time I heard your voice was over the phone." She told him, quirking a brow.

"Yeah, college has been killing me." He admitted, shuffling his shoes against the ground.

"Well, don't be a stranger just because you're an adult now." Maya said with an attitude existent in her voice.

Josh grinned sheepishly at her, feeling bad that he hadn't talked to her recently.

"Now, you look like you need some coffee." She said, giving him a knowing look.

Josh laughed awkwardly and nodded in response to her very smart prediction.

"Well, you've come to the right place." She assured him, spinning on her heel and walking back to the counter.

He agreed with her whole-heartedly, just not quite for the same reason.

She slowly pulled him up out of the depths of the sea he thought he was drowning in.
