* (Extra Long Chapter Special) Pt. 2
Josh stood at the top of the stairs patiently.
"Okay, there's three rooms. Divide yourselves however you want." Tyler said, briefly smiling then running back down most likely to make out with his girlfriend.
They split up to look at the different rooms.
One had two twin beds, opposition each other with a large window towards the back.
The second one had a bunk bed in the corner and another twin bed against the wall, but the window was small and hard to look out of.
The third room had two large queen sized beds that Josh thought looked comfortable, but the window was practically a keyhole.
He didn't quite know why, but the size of the window had somehow mattered to him. So he walked back to the first room and set down his bag on a bed.
As he shuffled with his belongings he heard footsteps behind him.
"I guess since this is the last available room, it would be my obvious and only choice."
Josh looked up to see Farkle standing in the doorway, cautiously smiling as if he was asking for permission.
"Go ahead." Josh told him, as Farkle slowly walked in.
Josh didn't know much about Farkle, at least not enough to consider them close friends.
They unpacked in uncomfortable silence, both not entirely sure what to say.
"The girls are all rooming together?" Josh asked, pulling out some clothes and shoving them into the nearest dresser drawer.
"Yes, right next door." Farkle answered, as he pointed his finger towards the wall against Josh's bed.
Josh could hear the loud giggling on the other side and decided to ignore it, hoping it wouldn't keep him up at night.
"We should probably head to bed since it's dark." Farkle suggested, heading towards the doorway to go to the bathroom down the hall.
Josh followed suit and headed towards the bathroom in the opposite direction.
* Time Skip
After drying off his hair, Josh exited the bathroom, with his towel in one hand.
He could see the moonlight casting a glowing light onto the floor. Josh saw a shadow within the light coming from his shared room.
A petite silhouette was all he could see before he finally turned and saw Maya sitting by the window, her knees tightly hugged to her chest.
She snapped her head back to look at him and immediately stood up from the ground.
"Sorry, you just had the biggest window." She mumbled, looking longingly at the glass.
"Yeah that's, uh, why I like this room." He told her, stepping in and throwing his towel on his bed.
"Without a decent window sometimes it makes me feel like I'm sort of-"
"Trapped." Josh finished, cutting off her thought.
Maya nodded as a small smile spread across her pale face.
"Me too." Josh said.
He walked towards the window and placed his hands against the glass, peering up at the moon. Maya soon joined him, one finger drawing on the fogged up parts of the window.
With her eyes focused so clearly on what she was doing and her lips curved ever so slightly, Josh couldn't help but stare.
"Gorgeous." Josh accidentally whispered out loud.
Maya turned to look at him, but he quickly looked out the window to play it off as if he wasn't talking about her.
She opened her mouth to speak, but as quickly as she did she closed it and turned to walk away.
Josh spun around and gently grabbed her wrist. Maya looked at him oddly, eyes as big as saucers.
"G-Goodnight." He stammered, nervously letting go of her small wrist.
"Night Josh." She whispered before disappearing into the shadows and out of the moonlight he'd seen her so clearly in.
