"I don't get it, what is it?"
Josh, her boyfriend of one year awkwardly scratched the back of his head. His hand rested nervously on the edge of the granite countertop behind him.
"It's an apartment." Was all he said back.
She rolled her eyes and smiled. Maya watched the young man let out a breathy laugh as his eyes darted around the room.
Hardwood floor, granite countertops, two bedrooms, and one and a half bathrooms. It was beautiful, but she wasn't sure why she was here. With her boyfriend sheepishly stuttering about the place.
"I love you," Josh began, "And I want to wake up to next you everyday and come home to you every night." The young woman sucked in a breath and stared back at the brunette, affection visible from her gaze.
"You wanna move in, together?" She asked, with a giddy curl of her lips.
"We don't have to! If you're not ready, but I just, um, wanted to tell that I am. Ready that is. Sorry, I'm rambling aren't I? The point is. . . Yes." His stutters and apologies made Maya laugh, she found it endearing when he lost his cool and calm demeanor every once in awhile.
"Okay." She said.
"Okay?" He repeated with uncertainty.
"Okay."
"Okay as in, 'That's nice that you told me that' or like, 'I wanna move in too' or-"
"Josh, let's move in together."
"Okay."
With a coy smirk she slowly walked up to her boyfriend confidently with slow steps.
"I love you, you know that?" The words were out before she could think, but they certainly weren't accidental. Josh grinned, leaning down to press his lips firmly against hers in a sweet and chaste kiss that left Maya slightly unsatisfied.
"You know I have a thing for christening bedrooms. . ." She muttered under her breath.
He blinked.
"I'll go and get the paperwork."
