It's Not Jealously Just Concern

Maya looked away.

She couldn't stand it for one more minute. The sight of them laughing and talking together as if they were a couple. It made Maya's blood boil.

All she wanted was to march to their seats and yell angrily about her frustrations.

She didn't, and instead bit her tongue before sipping harshly from her straw.

Josh was sitting there at Topanga's with some random girl that was probably a self absorbed psycho, Maya thought. She caught herself quickly as the last thought crossed her mind.

What was wrong with her? Why was she being so judgmental? She knew very well that judging people wasn't right.

If that was something so strongly seared into her mind, then why had something made her forget morals and just feel angry?

Concern.

That must've been the word. If you asked her then that's what she would've told you, but, if you asked her now her answer would've been different.

When she heard that high pitched giggle that Maya wouldn't admit was cute, she almost burst her cup open from the way her hand was clenched around it.

She looked back at him and for a split second and swore that he frowned at her, as if he was sad she wasn't with him.

Maybe it was just her wishing she was with him.

Maya saw the mystery girl place her hand on his arm flirtatiously and Maya thought she'd explode on the spot.

He wasn't hers, she wasn't his.

So Maya threw her cup bitterly into the nearest trash can and ducked away out the door of Topanga's, a sense of deja vu was replaying in her head.

Maya was a little too concerned for her own comfort.
