Josh did a double take when he heard Shawn's voice across the phone.
"You want me to what?" He asked quizzically, pacing around his dorm room.
"Josh, listen I just need you to take her out on a date for a bit." Shawn explained.
"You do realize that I'm nineteen years old right?"
Shawn chuckled on the other end which made Josh feel nervous suddenly.
"I'm not asking you to date her, but she doesn't have a date for homecoming so she wants to stay home."
Josh sucked in a breath. How had nobody asked her homecoming? He couldn't see why anyone wouldn't like her.
"Well she shouldn't stay home, what about Riley?" Josh asked, anger rising in his voice.
"She's going with Lucas, and Maya insisted she went." Shawn answered, growing impatient.
"What about-"
He could hear Shawn groaning loudly.
"Just take the girl out Josh!" Shawn shouted, hanging up abruptly.
Josh let the phone slip out of his grip as he stood in his dorm room confused and oddly excited.
"Hey, there's a party tonight, you in?" Josh heard his roommate's voice say as he walked out from the bathroom.
"No." Josh responded, a smile spreading slowly across his face, "I got a date."
His roommate shrugged and walked out the front door while Josh glanced in the mirror and slipped his wallet in the back pocket of his jeans.
A date with Maya Hart was something he wouldn't miss for the world.
