Maya was happy.

No, happy was an understatement. She was extremely excited that Josh was using most of his winter break time to hang out with her and be away from college.

Of course he'd see his family too, since Maya also spent time with the Matthews, but they'd get to spend lots of one on one time. So Maya sat patiently buy the steps of her apartment building until she saw the handsome older adult approaching her.

She immediately sprung up and ran to him, but stoped herself midway to try and keep her cool demeanor.

"Sup Matthews." She croaked out, fighting the urge to fling herself into his arms.

"What, no hug?" He asked, making it harder for Maya to stay calm. Maya rolled her eyes and folded her arms.

"I missed seeing you." Josh said, smiling broadly at the teen who struggled to keep her composure. Maya chewed on her lip and tried not to look directly at his face.

"I missed you too." Maya whispered, shoving her hands into the back pockets of her jeans. Josh chuckled and adjusted the beanie that was loosely placed on his head of hair.

"You look cute, as always." Josh told her, his voice smooth and unfortunately for Maya very attractive.

"You know Maya, I've known you long enough to tell when you're holding back."

Maya widened her eyes and shrunk back in embarrassment. Josh simply grinned and grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers. The cold air made Maya's fingers appreciate the warmth.

"How did you know?" Maya mumbled, pulling Josh closer and finally hugging him.

"Cause I love you." Josh teased, kissing the top of her head.

"I was trying to be cool." She admitted.

"You're always cool." He said, and Maya stopped acting.
