"Don't let go!" She shouted, causing Josh to tighten his grip on her hands.
"Maya, just relax." He told her, in an attempt to calm her down.
They were currently at a roller rink and he hadn't known that Maya had never roller skated before until now.
She was struggling and her feet were sliding uncontrollably. He guided her to the railing where she quickly held the bars.
"I don't get it, how is it so easy for you?" Maya asked, scrunching up her nose.
Josh grinned at her and glided around with ease.
"Showoff!" Maya shouted, still clinging to the railing.
Josh stopped a few feet ahead of her and held out his arms. "Just skate to me." He said.
"If I die, you're next." She warned him, slowly coming forward.
"You look adorable." Josh said, causing Maya to look up and blush, embarrassed.
"No, I look stupid." She replied, looking back at her feet.
When she finally reached him she fell forward until Josh caught her arms and held her upright.
"Thanks." She whispered, slowly peeling of his hands.
"No problem, I'm the one who made you skate."
She shook her head and sighed.
"No, thanks for taking me out when you knew I was alone." Maya explained, still holding onto one of his hands to keep from falling.
Yet Josh realized their hands were intertwined this time, as if it wasn't just to hold her up, but to hold her hand.
Josh wasn't sure whether to move his hand or not, but he didn't want her to fall.
Maya must've thought the same thing because she awkwardly pulled her hand away and tried to back up until she fell back and Josh caught her again, pulling her in for a hug.
"You're welcome." He whispered.
