Maya tied the laces on her bowling shoes firmly and stood up, searching for Josh. He'd gone to buy some food while Maya changed shoes.
She saw him standing awkwardly at the counter as a young girl leaned forward at him, with her shirt slightly unbuttoned to show more cleavage.
Maya stared in shock as she wrote her number down and slid it across to Josh. Josh looked like he didn't know what to say back. The girl was pretty, no doubt about it, but Maya saw him look uncomfortable.
When Josh slid the number back Maya found herself smiling. She wanted to believe he'd given it back because of her.
The girl look confused and offended as she scoffed. Before Maya could even giggle the girl pulled Josh's face to hers and kissed him roughly, while Josh struggled to understand what was happening.
Maya gaped at the sight of the girl shoving her lips onto his while he pushed away, looking scared and disgusted. Maya marched over there angrily, ready to rip this mystery girl's throat out.
As she approached the pair she could hear them talking.
"What, you said you didn't have a girlfriend." The female employee giggled out, licking her lips happily.
"Actually he does." Maya lied, linking her arm with Josh's and plastering a smile across her face.
"I said I did have a girlfriend." Josh played along, also lying.
The girl's Jersey accent came through as she spoke.
"No way, aren't you like, thirteen?" She asked Maya, jutting a hip to the side.
"No." Maya spat back bitterly. Josh pulled her closer to his side and Maya grinned as the girl walked away mortified.
"You're my girlfriend?" Josh joked, when they were alone.
"I've got an RSVP." Maya told him, before running down to their lane.
