Maya giggled as Josh gave her a piggyback ride to the picnic table that Riley and her Dad sat at. Josh was walking quickly, and Maya was pretty light so it was fun for the both of them.

Josh set Maya down on the bench and soon after Auggie popped out from under the table. He tagged his Uncle and bolted off as quickly as he could while Josh stood up to catch him. Riley instantly grew excited and ran to catch up.

Maya laughed softly and quietly, forgetting that Mr. Matthews was still sitting there.

"You seem happy." He said, smiling kindly at the girl. Maya sheepishly grinned back and nodded.

"That's because I am Mr. Matthews." Maya said, looking back at her best friend and her boing in the grass. He let out a chuckle that made Maya feel a little embarrassed.

"Josh is a good kid." Mr. Matthews told Maya, joining her in her observing state. Maya couldn't help but feel happy to hear that said. Of course it was true. Maya knew that already and always believed he was amazing.

"Yeah, he is." Maya replied, while blushing beneath the shade of the trees. She lost herself in thought as she stared at some of her favorite people in the world out in that field. They were happy, and so was she.

"Is there something you really like about him Maya?"

Maya turned her head to look at her teacher. She pondered the thought for a moment. There was lots she could say, but as of right now, he was making her feel something a little more unreal.

"He's like my knight in shining armor." Maya told Mr. Matthews, letting a smile creep up to her face.

"How so?"

"He makes me feel like a princess."
