"College! A huge milestone in your adult life." Mr. Matthews said, pointing to the chalk letters on the board.

"Matthews, you can't teach us about college. You haven't been there in forty years." Maya groaned, kicking her feet up on the desk.

Laughter was heard throughout the class as Maya grinned to herself.

Mr. Matthews frowned at Maya while Riley tried her best not to smile.

"Well, lucky for you I'm not teaching you about college." He told her, smirking confidently.

Maya furrowed her brow at him, wondering what was up his sleeve.

"Oh Josh!" Mr. Matthews called, laughing at Maya's priceless expression.

"Class, meet my brother." He said, gesturing towards the young adult walking through the doorway.

Maya immediately swung her legs off her desk and perked up.

"Hey kiddies!" Josh called, leaning back against his brother's desk.

Maya's heart swelled at the sight of him standing there with messy tousled hair, and a bright smile across his face.

"Well hello there." Maya flirted, twirling her hair girlishly around her finger.

Josh chuckled softly when they made eye contact, but cleared his throat after.

"Anyway, college is definitely important like Cory said, and if you go to NYU, I might see you there." Josh said, scratching the back of his head.

Maya kept a smile on her face the whole time as her stomach was jumping up and down inside.

She always wanted to go to college, and NYU just happened to be her top choice.
