"I think you're doing it wrong." Josh said, as he watched Maya stare hopelessly at the recipe book in her hands. She had been going through it for the past hour and somehow managed to get flour in her hair.
"I'll get it right this time!" She shot back, turning to the large mixing bowl in front of her.
"Now If I could just find the salt. . . " Maya muttered, as Josh sat at the dining table. Maya and Josh had told Cory that they'd make some Thanksgiving dishes this year and Maya had wanted to make hers first.
"It's right there." Josh said, pointing right next to Maya's hand. Maya giggled nervously before swiping the salt and pouring a small amount into the bowl.
"What are you making anyways?" Josh asked, curiously peering inside the bowl.
"A sweet potato casserole." Maya replied proudly, before dumping a cup of brown sugar in with the salt.
She looked so determined and happy at the same time that Josh couldn't help but smile. He was thankful for Maya Hart in his life. Everything had been very casual with the pair lately and Josh liked being comfortable with her more than anything.
"Why are too staring? It's making me nervous." Maya said, trying to push his head to the side.
"You look pretty when you're cooking." Josh answered, nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders. Maya sheepishly grinned for a minute. Josh wasn't lying or anything.
"How can you say those things so calmly?" Maya asked, giggling as Josh went back to watching her stir her bowl.
"Things you want to say often shouldn't be made into awkward moments."
Maya paused and set her bowl down on the counter.
"What?" She whispered.
"I think you're always beautiful." Josh said, and he was thankful that he did.
