Jake sighed, running a hand through his hair. "So we're really doing this?"
I bit my lip, nodding. God, this was going to be so hard.
"Are you sure you, Lex?" He asked again, his stare becoming a little too intense, "You're really sure about this?"
- 32 and a half hours ago -
"'If you two truly love each other, you will get through whatever decision you will make together,'" I mimicked the stranger in a high-pitched voice. I began to walk down the bridge in the opposite direction that the person went, kicking a stray pebble. "Like he knows what he's talking about. He doesn't know me, he doesn't know my life."
Maybe I was being a little too harsh on him, but he made me drop my breakfast and didn't even pay me for it. Or maybe I was acting like this because I needed a scapegoat for a minute; the stress of trying to decide what to do is really getting to me.
Sighing, I found a park bench and sat down on it, burying my face in my hands. God, this decision was so hard to make. On one hand, this was an opportunity of a lifetime and it was one of my dreams to become a professional singer; on the other hand, Jake and I were a team, I didn't want to do this without him.
And, just like that, I realized that I had already made my decision yesterday. I had told them that Jake and I were a team, we always will be. So, I shouldn't be stressing out over a decision that I had already made, I should take this time to go have fun with Jake in LA. I got out my phone and dialed Jake's number, feeling the weight off my shoulders.
"Hello?" Jake answered sleepily after a few rings. His voice was husky and he sounded like he was about to pass out any second- I must have woken him up.
"Did I wake you?" Immediately after I mentally facepalmed myself. I had just established to myself that I had most likely woken him up.
"Mhm, but that's alright. What's up?" He mumbled, yawning in the process of saying "up."
"I was wondering if you wanted to go out and have some breakfast together," I suggested, noting that my stomach was beginning to grumble. Stupid random dude who made me drop my bagel. "Or we can do it later so you can get some extra sleep if you want."
Again, Jake yawned. "No, no that's fine. I'll meet you at your room in 10?"
"Actually," I got up from the bench and began to walk back to the hotel, trying to calculate how much time it would take me to get to the hotel and change into something more suitable than my sweats and a tank top, "it will take more than 10 minutes since I just left the park."
"Park? You're at a park?"
I frowned, "You didn't read my text?"
Jake let out a chuckle, "Lex, you literally woke me up a minute ago. I didn't get a chance to check my texts yet."
Oh, right. "I knew that."
"Sure you did, Lex. Sure you did."
"Whatever," I huffed. "So we'll meet in my room probably in 20 minutes?"
"Alright, I'll see you then." He paused. "I love you."
A smile immediately blossomed on my face, "I love you too." With that, we both hung up, and I began to walk back to the hotel. It was about time that I started to enjoy this trip with my amazing boyfriend. I deserved it, if I do say so myself.
