I stopped suddenly. Jake looked back when he noticed that I wasn't behind him anymore.

He started walking towards me. "What's wrong?" Jake asked, stopping right in front of me.

"I- uh... Your friends..." I whispered.

Jake looked back, at his friends. They were watching us, smiling and whispering to each other. "Them? What about them?"

"Do they bite?" I asked.

Jake looked at me in shock, his mouth open. "You- you.." He stuttered, laughter in his eyes, "Out of all the things you could be worried about about my friends- which you shouldn't be, they're all nice and cool- you're worried about if they bite?"

I nodded, my eyes wide.

"Oh, Lex," Jake chuckled. He went behind me, took my shoulders, and started pushing me toward his friends. "Come on, they don't bite."

When we got to them, Jake spoke up. "Hey, guys. This is Alexis Taylors, the girl that I told you about. Alexis, these are my friends."

At first, there was this awkward silence. Then, one of the girls- a really pretty blonde, the same height as me, with baby blue eyes- smiled at me and offered her hand. I shook her hand and she introduced herself.

"Dawn Palmer, sixteen years old, born on October 10th. I play volleyball and I'm on the dance team. I hope we can be really good friends," she beamed at me.

Dawn stepped to the side, and before I could say anything, another girl took her place. She was about an inch or two taller than me, and she had dark brown hair. Her blue-green eyes stared at me intently. There was this awkward moment of silence before she spoke up.

"I'm Nicole. Nicole Smith. I'm also sixteen and my birthday's coming up- June 27th. Sports and I don't agree with each other, so I try and stay as far away from them as possible. I can sing, though. Nice to meet you, by the way," she said, shaking my hand.

After Nicole and I stopped shaking hands, she was instantly replaced by the last girl, who was the same height as me. She had black, wavy hair, that was gorgeous, and she had warm, dark, chocolate eyes.

She held her hand out and as we shook hands, she introduced herself, "My name is Leah Green; I'm seventeen. My birthday was on April 12th. Um... I can't sing, dance, or play any sport or musical instrument for my life, but- if I do say so myself- I'm really good at drawing. I having a feeling that we're going to be really good friends."

I smiled at all of them, then introduced myself. "I'm Alexis Taylors, seventeen, born on January 21st. I can play volleyball and I'm on cheerleading. I can sing and play, practically, any musical instrument that you give me. I like the colors pale pink and white, and I really hope that we can get along."

Then, one of the guys stepped up. "Hello, beautiful. I don't think I introduced myself to you yet, which is extremely rude- I shouldn't keep a lady waiting. The name's Russell Davis, but you can call me Russ. I play on the school's football and basketball teams- what can I say? I'm in high demand. I know how to please a woman," he added with a wink.

I looked him over. He was pretty tall- I'd say about 5'10- and he had muscle. Not enough to be bulky, but enough to show that he worked out. He had dark brown hair that flopped on his forehead just right, and blue eyes with a tint of green.

I smirked and replied, "You know how to please a woman, huh? Well, then, please leave me alone!"

Russ stared at me, mouth hanging wide open.
