It was only my second day of having the cast on, and I was already counting down the days of when the doctor would be able to take it off.
"I hate wearing a cast. I hate wearing a cast. I hate wearing a cast," I chanted, laying on my bed, staring at my ceiling. To make it worst, I still had to wear the sling for a few more days.
"I hate wearing a cast. I hate using a sling. I hate wearing a cast. I hate using a sling," I slightly altered my chant.
I couldn't do anything. If I tried making my own food, heck, if I tried heating up my own food, Jake would tell me that it was too much work for me with my cast on. He would take over and tell me to go watch TV or lay down. The same with if I tried bouncing a ball against the wall. Or if I tried drawing. Or if I tried using the computer. Or if I even tried texting.
I was sick of the cast. I wasn't allowed to do anything with it. I was sick of Jake's too over-protectiveness. He wouldn't allow me to do anything.
Jake knocked on my door. "Hey, Lex. What're you doing?"
"Staring at the ceiling. Oh, wait, do you think that's too much work for me too?" I snapped at Jake.
"Woah, sorry. I was just wondering what you were doing."
"Sorry. It's just, I'm not allowed to do anything with my cast on, according to you, so I'm getting fidgety." I sighed.
Jake ran his hand through his hair. "Well, I guess I have been a little over-protective-"
"A little?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Okay, fine, I've been really over-protective. I just don't want you to strain yourself."
I stared at Jake blankly. "And heating up my food, bouncing a ball against the wall, drawing, going on the computer, or even texting will make me strain myself how?"
Jake walked over to me and picked me up, sitting on my bed and setting me on his lap. He started placing light kisses on my neck and shoulder. "I'm sorry Lex, will you ever forget me?" His voice had a hint of mischievousness in it.
"Hm?" I asked, getting a little distracted.
Jake chuckled. "Do you forgive me yet?"
I pulled away from him, narrowing my eyes. "You tried to trick me!"
"Darn. It almost worked," Jake muttered, snapping his fingers.
I pushed him. "I forgive you, just stop the over-protective Jake. I want the old Jake back."
"Deal." Jake pulled me back into his arms. "So what do you want to do now?"
I thought for a moment. "Let's go outside!"
Jake frowned. "Outside?"
"Yeah, outside. Like out in the backyard! I haven't been there yet," I told him, bouncing excitedly.
"Okay, okay. Let's go," Jake chuckled as he led me down the stairs and to the kitchen. Going to the door at the side of the kitchen, he opened it and let me go through it first.
As I stepped out, I gasped. The backyard was huge! On one side, there was a huge field with an entrance to a garden in the back of it. A big pool and jacuzzi was on the other side, with beach tanning chairs and tiki torches around the pool. On the far end of the backyard, there was a sand volleyball court on one side, and a basketball court on the other.
