"Lex," Jake said, getting ahold of my elbow.
I turned, facing him with a confused expression, "What?"
"Think about what you just did."
I sighed, giving him a look. "I did, and I won't change my decision. We're a team. It's either they get both of us, or none of us."
"But-"
I cut Jake off, shrugging, "They just made the wrong decision." I started heading towards the front door again.
Jake frowned, following me. "Lex, think about this amazing opportunity that was handed to you."
"But what about you?" I asked softly.
"This is about you," Jake told me seriously. "They offered you the recording contract, they thought you would be an amazing star. You, not me."
I sighed, shaking my head. Before I even opened my mouth, Jake started talking again.
"You love to sing- I know you do. And you have an amazing voice, an amazing talent. Don't screw up this opportunity just because I wasn't given one. They know- I know that you'll be an amazing singer."
I shook my head again, "But I don't want to be a singer if I'm not singing with you."
"Alexis! Jake!"
Both of us stopped our conversation to see Grace walking towards us. My eyes widened as she came over to me, grabbing my shoulders and started shaking me.
"Alexis- do you not understand the opportunity that you've been given?" She finally stopped shaking me.
"I-"
"That's what I keep on asking her!" Jake told Grace. "But she won't listen to me."
She turned to me, a frown on her face, "Why did you not accept it?"
"Because Jake-"
"Is that the only reason why?" Grace asked me.
Jake told me at the same time Grace asked, "Stop thinking about that, Lex."
I frowned at both of them, crossing my arms over my chest. "Why is it bad that I want Jake to be with me- because we're a team- instead of me just going by myself?"
"Because you're giving up a huge opportunity!" Jake and Grace both said it at the same time.
"Alright, that was weird..." I mumbled.
Jake heard me apparently, because he said, "Le-ex." He drew out the 'e'.
"Ja-ake," I said, copying Jake by drawing out the 'a'.
"You know this is a once in a lifetime opportunity," Jake said, looking serious. "So don't pass it up because of me."
"But what if I don't want?" I asked.
"Why wouldn't you?" Jake frowned at me.
"Alexis," Grace said, "You have an amazing talent, one that other people would die to have. Don't throw it all away because you're nervous or uncertain."
"Or because of me," Jake added.
I blew out a breath. "I just started school..."
"You could have someone that will teach you go with you if you have tours. You can go to a school here in California, or you could just go back to your school and we could work something out," Grace told me.
"But-"
"Alexis," Grace said.
I looked at her.
