I spent most of the day packing for the trip to L.A., which was in 2 days. Sighing, I took a little break from packing, flopping down on my bed. There was so much stuff to pack, it wasn't funny. It didn't seem like that much to pack when I had thought about it, but now...
"Meow." I turned and, practically on top of my face, was Ashtin.
"Hey, buddy. Wanna help me pack?" I asked, sitting up and petting him.
"I'll help you, but, in return, will you pet me too?" Jake asked, amused. I looked over and saw that he was leaning against my door frame, watching me.
"Come here," I patted the place on my bed, right next to me.
Jake came and sat down next to me. I reached up and started petting his hair, rubbing it this way and that way. When I was done, it looked like Jake had just gotten out of bed. To tell you the truth, he looked pretty fine to me, if you get what I mean.
Jake looked at me with puppy dog eyes. "Arf," he held him hands up and curled them, like paws.
"Aw, who's one cute puppy?" I messed up his hair again.
"Me?" Jake grinned.
I shook my head. "No. In the vet, I saw this one dog that was really cute-"
"Really? Are you sure about that?" Jake asked, a mischievous smile on his face.
I nodded. "Yeah, back at the-"
Jake lunged, tickling me. I laughed, trying to squirm away from him. My hands were up, trying to defend myself.
"Stop, stop. Please," I laughed, rolling away from Jake. No matter where I went, Jake followed. I decided to keep rolling, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. That is, however, until I rolled straight off of my bed. "Oof!" I cried out, arms trying to reach something that would help keep me up. In a last second reflex, I rolled to my side without a cast, snuggling my cast against my body.
I fell, hard, my head thumping against the floor. Right after, I opened my eyes and noticed that the room was spinning. Groaning, I closed my eyes again. Why am I the one that always gets hurt? Jake's in perfect condition, while I'm in a cast and on the floor. Not fair.
"Are you okay, Lex?" I opened my eyes and two Jakes were right in front of my face, looking down at me worriedly.
I nodded, wincing at the pain. "I'm fine," I said, reaching up to pat the cheek of the Jake closest to me. Unfortunately, that Jake happened to not exist, so my hand- pathetically- swung in front of me.
"Um... What were you doing, Lex?" Jake worriedly asked.
I frowned. What was I doing again? Oh, right, I was trying to pat Jake's cheek... "I was trying to pat your cheek. I guess that Jake wasn't real, now was it?"
"'That Jake'?" Jake repeated, sounding crazily worried now. "How many Jakes do you see?"
"Don't worry. I only see two Jakes." I informed Jake happily.
"Two? There's only one Jake, here, Lex." Jake cussed, going somewhere. Probably to take a bath. "Hello, Doc? Yeah, Lex fell, and she's seeing double and it seems like she's dizzy. She keeps swaying from side to side, and is acting pretty weird."
I frowned. Why was Jake talking to himself?
"Okay, yeah. I'll bring her right over. See you soon, Doc."
