Jake parked the car. Turning to me, he grinned, "Alright, are you ready for your first day of school?"

"As ready as I'll ever be," I muttered, sighing. I stepped out of Jake's car, mentally preparing myself for all the stares coming my way.

I cringed slightly. This was my first day at school, and even thought I've gotten to know a lot of people over the last couple of weeks before school, I was still nervous.

"C'mon, I'll take you to the front office," Jake said, opening the doors for me.

"A gentleman," I said, laughing as I went in the building.

Jake winked at me, clasping my hand in his, "You know I am."

Even though I tried to pretend like I didn't notice anything, I could tell a bunch of people were already looking at me. Nothing beats new student popularity.

After I got my schedule, the bell rang. I sighed, following Jake, who was in my homeroom.

He grinned at me. "Don't worry, you'll be-"

A squeal cut him off. I turned just in time to see Dawn launch herself at me. I stumbled back a few steps from the force of her hug.

"So how do you like school so far?" Dawn asked me.

I laughed. "It barely even started."

Dawn eyed my schedule, grabbing it from me. She took her's out, scanning both of our schedules. Handing mine back to me, she grinned. "We have the same classes!"

I grinned. "What about the others?"

"Nicole and Leah are already in class," Dawn told me.

"And so are the guys," Jake said, holding the door open for me.

I smiled at him. "Thanks."

Jake went in right after me, shutting the door on Dawn's face.

"Thanks, Jake. You're a real gentleman," Dawn stuck her tongue out at him.

He shrugged. "I try."

Suddenly, someone pushed me from behind, making me drop my things.

"Oops." I looked up to see a girl smirking at me. She looked like the typical 'Queen bee' type of girl that you see in movies and shows. "You're bad."

"Sorry," I muttered, mentally rolling my eyes.

Jake scowled at the girl, helping me pick up my things. "Jesus Liz, watch where you're going."

Liz pouted at Jake. "But she was in my way."

"You couldn't have gone a different way?" Jake retorted. I swear, I heard him mutter 'stupid blonde'.

"Why are you defending her, Jake?" Liz whined. "It's her fault, not mine."

"It was your own damn fault," Jake snapped. "Not my girlfriend's." He emphasized the word 'girlfriend'.

Her eyes narrowed, looking first at Jake, then at me. "What about us, Jakey?"

"There never was an 'us' and there never will be. Go back to stupid boy toys," Jake muttered, sitting down next to me.

Liz glared at me, before walking away. Great. School barely even started and I already have someone that hates me.

"Great," I groaned, looking at Jake. "Thanks a lot."
