"So... Great weather we're having here, isn't it?" Jake asked me.

I stared at him blankly.

"What? Just trying to make small talk," Jake said.

"Well that was one of the worst and awkwardest attempts at small talk. Ever."

Jake chuckled. "Oh, c'mon. It wasn't that bad, was it?"

"Oh, it was very bad. Trust me. Besides, that line only works for people you don't really know, not the person you're dating."

"So how would you start some small talk with the person you're dating, then?" Jake asked.

I shrugged. "I don't know."

We both became silent.

"So do you want to make out or something?"

I slapped Jake on his shoulder. "What the hell?"

"Isn't that how you would make small talk with your boyfriend/girlfriend?" Jake replied, rubbing his shoulder.

"No! You wouldn't even do that with your spouse! Who would do that?" I asked.

"People..."

"No, I bet you would be the only one to do that."

Jake chuckled. "That's just the way I am... Things will never be the same," he sang, quoting 'Changes' by Tupac, but changing some words.

I smiled, shaking my head. Turning, I stared out of the window, looking at the ocean. Sighing, I asked Jake, "How long do you think it'll be before they fix the ride?"

"Not sure," Jake shrugged.

I sighed again, going over to Jake's side and resting my head on his shoulder. He turned to me slightly, putting his arm around my shoulders and placing my head on his chest.

"Comfortable?" Jake asked, smiling.

I brought my legs up, curling them next to me. "Yeah," I said. "Now I am."

"Do you like California so far, Lex?"

"It's cool," I said. "Do you like it?"

Jake nodded. "Yeah, it's pretty cool. Different from Florida."

"Well, it is California," I told Jake.

Jake rolled his eyes. "I did not know that," he said sarcastically.

"It's true," I nodded.

"Thanks for informing me," Jake chuckled.

I looked up at Jake, tilting my head a little on his chest. "Was this part of our date? Getting stuck in the ferris wheel?"

"No," Jake shook his head, "But do you like staying up here?"

I nodded. "It's good bonding time," I giggled.

"As long as I'm here with you, I don't care how long we stay up here," Jake told me, looking into my eyes.

"Aww," I smiled, kissing Jake on the lips. "I love you, you know that?"

"Yes, but it's nice to hear it," Jake chuckled. "I love you too, Lex." He kissed me back, resting his forehead against mine while looking into my eyes.
