Chapter 5

Thoughts were racing around in my head. Jake likes me? No way, we had just met yesterday. There's no way that he could like me-

"Hey, you guys," Jake called, interrupting my train of thought.I looked up, the guys were heading to... a basketball court? "We're going to play basketball, you wanna come?"

"Sure," Nicole yelled, "Just give us a minute."

Jake nodded and jogged to where the guys were.

I was getting up from the table, when Dawn put her hand on my arm, stopping me. "I know that it feels like we just dropped a huge bomb in front of you, and told you to take care of it," she whispered. "But, trust me, Jake wouldn't push you or anything- he barely even realized his own feelings for you. So, just take your time and see if you like him. And, Lex," Dawn said.

While she was talking to me, we had started walking towards the guys, but when she said my name, we both stopped. I turned to her. "Yes?"

"If you guys do end up going out or something- don't hurt him, please," Dawn told me softly, smiling gently.

I laughed. "Oh, believe me, if something ever happens between me and Jake, I would never do anything to hurt him."

"Good," Dawn said, smiling. "Now that all that serious talk is out of the way, let's go." She linked her arm with mine and dragged me to where Nicole and Leah were sitting, watching the guys' basketball game.

I plopped next to Leah. "What'cha guys listening to?" I asked.

"Probably something by One Direction, am I right?" Dawn replied.

Leah nodded, smiling.

"Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed. But when you smile at the ground, it ain't hard to tell- you don't know- oh, oh! You don't know you're beautiful!"sang Nicole, bopping her head to the beat.

"What song is that?" I asked.

Nicole paused the song. Leah was staring at me with a shocked expression on her face.

"You don't know this song? 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction?" asked Leah.

I shook my head. "Who's One Direction?"

Dawn gasped, "You seriously haven't heard of One Direction?!"

"Um... Is it bad to say that I haven't?"

Nicole sighed. "Lex, Lex. How could you not have heard of One Direction? You're missing out- big time. At first, they were just five individuals that tried out for the X Factor, but, later, the judges decided that they would make the contestants into bands- and thus, One Direction was formed. The five are not only smoking hot, they're really good singers too."

"Ah..." I was at a lost of words. "Well, what I heard of that song was really catchy."

"Oh my gosh, Nicole, play it again for Lex!" Leah squealed.

Dawn chuckled, "We're going to shape you to be a One Direction fanatic."

"Just like you guys?"

"Yep," Nicole laughed, "Just like us."

"Here," Leah thrust her iPhone at me.

"I already have one," I said, holding my iPhone up. "Why're you giving me yours?"

Leah laughed, taking my phone. "No, silly. Look at the picture, that's One Direction; hot, huh? By the way, I'm putting our numbers in here," she wiggled my phone.

"Sure," I replied. "Who's the blond guy?"

Dawn grinned. "Ah, I see you've taken an interest in Niall Horan."
