They kept talking. And talking. And talking. And talking. I mean, I'm excited too, but, right now, I'd rather just watch a movie with Jake and have the rest of our 'lazy day' in peace, then go on our date. Instead, I'm here, sitting in my room, with Dawn, Leah, and Nicole, who keep gushing about how Jake and I were going to be the cutest couple ever.
"Guys," I interrupted them, holding my hand up, "I know that I asked you to help me get ready for my date, but couldn't we get ready later?" I pleaded, giving them my puppy dog eyes.
"Cute, but no. Hello? This is your first date with Jake, we have to make you look stunning!" Leah sighed happily.
I glanced at the clock. Almost two, Jake told me to be down at five. "But, but-"
"No buts." Nicole said firmly. "You are going to get ready for your date with Jake, and we will help you. That's that."
I looked over at Dawn. She just shrugged, grinning.
Sighing, I agreed. "Fine. But you guys better make me look kick ass," I teased.
Dawn squealed. "We will, we promise!"
"Jake'll be having to protect you from other guys when we're done with you," Nicole grinned.
"Did he tell you what you guys are doing?" Leah asked.
I shook my head. "No, he says it's a surprise. But, he told me to wear something nice- but not formal."
Dawn, who was looking through my closet, gasped. "I found what you're going to be wearing on your date, Lex!" She was holding up a white sundress; it had spaghetti straps and had a scrunchy part on my midsection. Giving the dress to me, she pushed me into the bathroom. "Try it on!"
After locking the door, I slipped the dress on. Turning to the full length mirror, I studied myself. The dress stopped mid-thigh and fit me perfectly. I turned around, making the dress swish around. Smiling, I went back into my room.
"Oh my god!" All of them yelled. "You look perfect in that dress!"
"What are we going to do with her hair?" Leah asked them.
Nicole thought for a moment. "We should curl it!"
"Do you have a curling iron, Lex?" Dawn asked.
I nodded, going over to my closet. I pulled out my curling iron and hairspray.
"Good, now hand it over and sit down," commanded Nicole.
Complying, I sat down at my makeup table. Opening the drawer, I picked out a teal nail polish color. Holding it up, I asked, "Do you think this is a nice color?"
"Yes!" Leah squealed. "It'll look great with your dress!" She started looking through my makeup, putting out whatever I was going to use for tonight.
"Thanks," I smiled, starting to paint my toenails with that color.
Dawn, with the help of Nicole, on the other hand, was halfway done curling my hair. "Jake won't be able to take his eyes of you!" Dawn said, releasing a my hair from the curler, making a perfect curl. Nicole sprayed hairspray on it right after.
Nicole laughed. "I can't wait to see his reaction when Lex goes down the stairs!"
"Jake's gonna be love-struck!" Leah sing-songed.
Laughing, I shook my head.
"Yeah, yeah, we all know Jake's gonna be all lovey-dovey and stuff. But first- voila!" Dawn said. "Her hair is curled to perfection- if I say so myself."
I looked in the mirror. My hair was curled to perfect; it cascaded down in perfect ringlets. "Oh. My. God. Dawn," I turned to her, "you have to be my new hair stylist!"
