Chapter 14

Luke stared at Louis in shock after hearing the older hybrid's side of the story and his plan of clearing his name. A part of him is still doubtful, what if this is just a made up story? To trick him into helping this 'wanted criminal' commit crime?

'What's there to lose though?' a thought came.

It made Luke think for a while.

'This could be a sign that it's time to leave this kind of life.'

He was abandoned when he was thirteen. Luke doesn't know why, he just woke up and saw  his parents and brothers gone. His family is poor, homeless and depends a lot on begging for money and food, but never did little Luke thought he'll ever be left behind just for the sake of lessening mouths to feed.

Luke begged for food and money after that, same thing as he always did with his family, but now he's on his own and it's harder cause when he's not feeling well, he has no one to rely on.

It happened for weeks until a man approached him. His name was Bobby. The man was offering him a job with their business, saying that one of their workers got caught and they need a replacement for him.

Desperate for food and money, Luke accepted the offer. Later he found out that their business involves drugs and he replaced a mule that got caught.

It was a risky job but Luke was earning more than when he was begging in the streets. He managed to get a cheap apartment. It was a huge improvement from sleeping in the alleys.

Lately, Luke was wondering if he could ever have a chance of turning his life around. He wants to escape this dirty business, find a decent job and have a more stable lifestyle. Luke's tired of risking himself for being a mule, scared of being threatened by his dealers, and scared of getting caught and going to jail, his life will totally be over if that happened.

Luke sighed, "O...okay..."

Louis' eyes widened, "W-what?"

"I believe you and I'll help you." Luke said, "I don't really have anything to lose right now. I've been alone ever since I was thirteen." he shrugged.

Louis gave a sigh of relief, "Thank you! This means a lot really! I really want to clean my name."

The older hybrid can't help but feel a lot of hope when Luke gave him that answer. The pain from telling Luke his horrible life story is so worth it. He had to keep the part where he killed two officers though... Louis doesn't want Luke freaking out and kicking him and Zayn out.

"I... I just hope that..." Luke sighed, hesitating if he should ask Louis a favor too.

Louis knows what he wants though... a new beginning... He wanted that too when his life went to shit, he still does since his life is still shit. Luke was doing him a huge favor right now, so he should return it.

"I know you want a new start. Don't worry, once I cleared my name, you can stay with me." Louis smiled, "I've been alone ever since... well until Zayn came..."

"Isn't his family looking for him?"

Louis' mood turned sour and he glared at Luke, whose eyes widened and has fear and regret written all over his face.

"I'll return him once everything is done." he said a little too coldly.

It made Luke freeze and doesn't want to ask questions about it further, "Oh... okay... sorry for asking..." he managed to speak out.

Louis gave him a sheepish smile and scratched the back of his head, reminding himself that he needs to earn Luke's trust, "I'm sorry, it's just...really complicated..."
