Chapter 19

"What's this for again?" Louis asked as Luke tied a blindfold around his head.

"Well, we're going to try and sharpen your other senses, like hearing and smell." Luke explained while he make sure that Louis couldn't really see, "Your eyesight has been incredible ever since we started this training, so I figured that we should try sharpening the other senses too just in case there comes a time where your eyesight can't be relied on."

It's been a week since Luke started Louis' training program. It consists of exercises that Luke thinks will improve Louis' abilities, running long distances to increase his stamina, heavy weight lifting for his strength, object tracking during the night for his eyes, smell and hearing, and other exercises Luke had researched.

Luke had this hidden meadow in a forest where he use to spend a lot of time. It wasn't that big, just an almost empty field with a mini pond at the corner, but still good for a training ground, especially that it's hidden and no one really visits the place.

"Sounds good." Louis nodded once Luke let go, "Is Zayn still napping?"

Luke turned to the old tent they brought along for Zayn, "Yeah, think he still is."

Of course they had to bring Zayn along. Louis was nervous that Zayn will be afraid of him. The last time Zayn saw him like that wasn't really the best situation. However, with Luke's help, Zayn didn't freak out, though the older males sensed Zayn's fear and had to assure Zayn that it's still his Louis. Zayn calmed down, but Louis knows that the young hybrid isn't really comfortable with it. Luke tried to explain it as simple as he could, and Louis' really grateful for it. The first day wasn't the best, Zayn was a little hesitant coming near Louis' other form, but he acts the same when Louis' in his real form. The passing days improved though, Zayn isn't as scared nor hesitant to go near Louis' beast form, it's not as close as Louis wants him to be, but considering it's just a week, the brunette's willing to be patient.

"Alright, what do I have to do?" Louis asked.

"Well, earlier I buried a dead rat around here. Try looking for that first, let's test your smelling sense." Luke explained.

"You killed a rat for this training?" Louis said in disbelief.

"No, I found it dead under the sofa." Luke explained, "So I thought, why not use it here?"

"...wow..." was all Louis could say.

"Hey, this is for you, alright? Now go look for it. Here's the tissue I used to pick it up." Luke said placing it near Louis' nose.

"Ewww." Louis' face turned in disgust as he smelled it.

Luke chuckled, "Go on then."

Louis sniffed the air, trying to find a matching scent. He blocked other noises away and tried to concentrate on the smell. After a while, he caught something and tried following the scent. Louis had memorized the scene of his location already, so in his mind he made a map of the entire field. He sniffed again and in his mind, he imagined a trail that might lead him to the dead animal. He followed that trail, walking slowly as to not trip on some rocks or branches.

"Dig it up too, by the way!" he heard Luke yelled.

Louis made a gagging noise at the thought of touching the dead animal.

Soon he reached a certain spot where the scent was strong. Louis carefully knelt down and started digging on a spot where he think the dead rat is buried. He let out an (un)manly squeal when he felt the rat.

"Fuck! Luke, I found it!" Louis yelled.

He heard Luke ran to him and clapped, "Good job! Now for the next part, I buried a dead snake-"
