I sit on my bed reading a book as I started to hear 'interesting' noises coming from down the hall some. I bit down on my lip and began to laugh Aunt Rosalie and Uncle Emmett were have their 'fun time'. I shook my head, having a hard to concentrating on reading MockingJay(love this book!). I felt slightly better, though certain movements still hurt to do. I set the book down and made my way out onto the balcony. The morning was hinted with last nights rain and it in caped me in the soft scent of rain. I smiled and took a seat on one of the porch chairs that were set out there.
I stared out at the lake or pond or what ever the body of water that was in between the mountain. I closed my eyes, taking in the scents. "Annabella," I heard my name being called from somewhere in the house. "In my room, on the balcony," I called back, unsure of whom had called my name. I looked over my shoulder and spotted grandpa in the doorway. I smiled and asked, "Yes?" A grin spread across his face and he said, "Well I want to give you some pain medicine and your mother informed me that me that you are allowed to venture through the forest, but do please stay close."
I nodded and he gave me a couple of the pain killers. I took them and shuddered in disgust as they made their way down my throat. My pain disappeared and I smiled at grandpa, "Thanks." He nodded and made his way out of my room. I looked around for a moment and then walked my way through the house and out the door. The giddiness I felt would not last long, the pain killers would evaporate sooner or later.
I made my trek up the large expanse of hill and grunted as I landed a top of the hill. The view up close was amazing, I felt as if I were in a fairy tale. I slid down the rest of the way, until I was in the valley that the pond was in. "Hey you," I heard a voice call and I looked around and saw a boy about my age. He had light brown hair that curved in his face. He was slightly taller than me, with a slightly lanky body. His face still showed the roundness of boy hood, so I knew he couldn't be too much older.
As he got closer to me I notice that his eyes were a shade of dark blue and they were dazzling. I shook my head, what was I thinking, Seth was mine, not this unknown stranger. "Hi," he said in a deepening but not fully there yet voice. "Hello," I replied politely. "You new here?" he asked, a quizzical expression forming on his features. "I am new to this neighborhood, yes. Also to Seattle." He smiled and asked, "Got a name?"
I arched my eyebrows and responded, "Do you?" He smirked and replied, "Yeah, Baileh Peterson, and you?" I laughed and said, "Annabella Cullen, nice to meet you, Baileh. isn't that a girl name though?" He rolled his eyes and began to walk. I followed him and he then said, "My parents wanted a girl and they said even if it were a boy it would be named Baileh." I nodded, "Well at least it wasn't Kelly or something." He chuckled, nodding, "Where do you live?" I pointed over my shoulder and said, "Over the hill and through the woods, to my house would be."
He chuckled, a smile forming across his face, and he replied, "Well I am glad someone finally moved into that house." We had made a lope around the pond and found a nice spot in between some boulders. "Why?" I questioned, the breezing making me shiver slightly. "Well we had a fear that no one would move into that home. I mean its quite beautiful isn't?" Baileh asked, skipping a pebble.
I nodded and before I could speak again Baileh said, "Where are you orginally from?" I hint of a smile formed on my face and I replied, "Forks, ever heard of it?" He nodded, reconition was evident in his eyes, "Forks, Washington was where my parents first moved to before i was born. They dislike small town life." I tilted my head, "Really? That's cool. I loved Forks, but we just moved, because we wanted to." He nodded, his hair following the movement.
Before we could continue speaking, I heard my name being called. I let out an annoyed breath, I stood. I turned to look back at Baileh, and he was quickly scribbling something onto a piece of paper. He smirked and handed me the piece of paper. He then ran off and into the elevator forest near by. I didn't check what was on the note, instead I went to go find where my dad was.
I slid down the mountain and let out a loud moan of pain. I heard quick movement and from a blur appeared dad. "Are you okay, sweetheart?" he asked, worry creasing across his face. "I just tumbled down a mountain, but I'm just peachy dad," I replied, through gritted teeth. He actually thought about if I meant it or not, how rude! I was then thrown carefully on his back and he sped towards the house. One we were on the top of the steps he set me on my feet and walked inside. "Is there a reason you wanted me?" I asked, following him inside.
"Well your mom was getting worried and told me to get you," he replied, matter of factly. I shook my head, still clutching the crumpled piece of paper. I made my way up the steps, and a sharp pain stabbed my leg. I let out a yelp and sat down. Three people ran out of the kitchen, mom, dad, and grandma. My eyes widened in surprise, I didn't expect all of them to come rushing out. "What's wrong?" asked my mom, panic reaching her voice. "My leg," I gasped. Grandma walked up to me and felt my leg, I cringed in pain. "I believe it is broken," she announced after a second.
"What's wrong?" Renesmee asked, having come out of somewhere upstairs. "Your sister's leg is broken and we are going to go to the hospital," dad told her in a smooth voice. "Can I come?" she asked, her voice had a twinge of plead in it. Mom nodded, as she carefully lifted me up. Stupid hill broke my leg! Renesmee followed us, I was placed in the back with a pillow placed under my foot. Renesmee sat on the seat next to my foot and she pulled out a notepad and pen. She scribbled on it and then threw it to me:
Your enjoying being babied aren't you?
I shook my head and wrote back:
I hate it so much! I wasn't the one to plan braking my leg by falling down a hill!
I threw it back at her, she glared as she read and then she wrote on it, throwing the notepad back at me.
If you didn't enjoy it, why don't you tell them not to baby you?
I rolled my eyes at the paper and wrote back.
Ness, just trust me on this, the limelight is not my thing. I don't care if you enjoy it or whatever I just can't wait for me to be better. The only reason I am allowing being babied is because I need certain things from it, after everything is done, I will let you have the limelight to yourself.
I threw it at her and crossed my arms to show the finality of the situation. The ride to the hospital was agonizingly long, the pain in my leg was continually increasing. A relived sigh came through as Seattle's hospital loomed ahead, soon I would have a cast. After dad parked the car, they helped me out. I was being supported between mom and dad as I walked, again annoyed at the stares we were getting. The doors to the hospital slid open and the scent of it hit me in the nose.
I gagged, when grandpa saw me, concern was written all over his face, "What happened?" he questioned, while helping me down the hallway. Mom was the one to reply, "She fell down a hill and broke her leg." He shook his head and led me to one of the rooms. I sat down on the bed and as he left to go get some stuff to cast my leg in, I unscrambled the note. It read:
Dear Annabella,
I know I just met you, but will you be my friend? If you accept this friendship come down the street about a mile. My house is the big white and blue house, can't miss it. You should come over around 3:00, I will be home from school by then. If you cannot make it but still want to be my friend, call this number and asked for me if I do not pick up.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Baileh.
I didn't know what amazed me most. Is the way that Baileh is spelled or in the short period of time he managed to write this. A smile remained on my face for the rest of the day, I was making a new friend. I would call Baileh tomorrow at 3:00 because there was no way I would be able to go down there, not with a cast and crutches.
