Chapter 17

Mia’s POV

It’s been a week since Niall left with the other guys in their new boy band and we have hardly spoken, I know that the girls are worried about me since I’ve hardly spoken to them and I had declined any invitations to meet up, I just feel kind of…let down because Niall hasn’t been trying as much as I have, it just feels like I’m trying harder with this relationship than he is. I’m lying in my bed having these thoughts on this chilly Monday morning, my mum’s insisted that I leave my window open and let a breeze air out my room, and this is just making me really quite cold so I stand up and walks over to my wardrobe pulling the doors wide open to find a jacket of some sort. I reach in and pull out a baggy cardigan. As I pull it out something gets caught on it and falls out onto the floor, I bend down to pick it up and then I see what it is and I drop it as if it has bitten me, it’s Niall’s hoody which I stopped wearing two days ago.

Just then there’s a gentle knock at my door.

“Come in.” I expect my mum to step through the door but instead I’m greeted by 4 sympathetic faces.

“Hey Mia, your mum called us, she said that you could use some cheering up.” Jade says as she comes and sits on my bed shortly followed by Georgia and Halli, Charlie however comes over to me and gives me a hug before bending down and picking up Niall’s hoody, she looks at it and bites her bottom lip before hurriedly putting it into the wardrobe.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Charlie asks kindly as she rests a hand on my shoulder. I nod and we both move to sit on the bed with the others, I’m so glad I have such a big bed.

“Whenever I manage to get hold of him, he only talks to me for a few minutes before he tells me that he has to go because the guys are there, and when I ask him if they know about our relationship and the situation with who my parents are he just says, this isn’t the time and then he hangs up and I just want him to talk to me, and if he hasn’t told them about us then that’s fine but I need to know where I stand and he just isn’t talking to me.” I can feel tears brimming at the corners of my eyes and Georgia pulls me into a hug followed by everyone else.

“It’s going to be ok, and if it doesn’t work out then you will always have us, just please don’t shut us out Mia, we’re here for you but we can’t be if you don’t let us know what’s happening.” Halli says kindly as the hug breaks up. I nod as I brush the tears from my eyes.

“Now, I think that you need a distraction, come on we are going out.” Georgia says as she pulls me off the bed.

“No…” I grumble.

“Come on Mia, you can’t stay here until school starts again ok? You are coming out with us and you are going to have a good time…shopping!” She squeaks. She loves shopping more than anything, seriously it’s becoming an obsession.

“Fine.” I give in and let her pull me over to the mirror.

“Jade can you please do her makeup and please try to make her look a little less puffy in the eye area.” I hear Charlie say from behind me.

“Oi! I heard that!” I say giving her a playful glare, they always manage to make me feel better just from being themselves.

They all chuckle and Jade comes over and begins on my makeup while Georgia and Halli go through my wardrobe to find me an outfit that they will let me leave the house in and Charlie stands there watching.

“Guys your making a mess!” Charlie calls presumably to Georgia and Halli but I can’t turn to look since Jade is putting on some eye shadow.

“Sit still.” Jade says as I feel the brush gently apply colour to my eye lids. I smile but sit as still as I can. About 10 minutes later and my makeup is finished and I have changed into the outfit that Halli and Georgia has picked out of jeans a floaty purple chiffon top with a matching purple vest underneath and my brown leather jacket and my black boots.
