Mia’s POV

“And can you describe to us exactly what he did to you?” The police officer asks, her name’s Judy and she seems nice and genuine and she’s really kind in the way that she asks her questions.

“Well, erm, he had had a few drinks and when he came home the kids had already gone to bed and my mum was upstairs asleep and so was my grandma. They had asked me to wait up for the cat because she had gone outside so I said that I would. When he came in he was angry at me and said that I didn’t belong in his family and that it would be better if I just left and then he grabbed my hair and threw me off the sofa and onto the floor and started kicking me. I told him to stop. I screamed but he wouldn’t he just kept kicking and then he banged my head against the coffee table which gave me this black eye and then my grandma came downstairs and told him to leave me alone and go to bed and she tried to reassure me that it was only the alcohol but I knew that it wasn’t and I knew that grandma was scared of him and so I ran to the one place that I knew that I would be safe. Here.” She says, she’s speaking quickly and trying not to think about it too much but the tears are back and messing up what little makeup she has on.

“Shhh, it’s ok G.” I say, putting my arm around her shoulders and giving her a hug which she accepts before sitting back up straight and wiping away the tears, trying to control her emotions.

“Can you show us the marks that he left on you?” Judy asks gently and Georgia slowly nods her head but then looks at the male junior officer who has been taking notes and Judy silently dismisses him. Georgia then pulls up her trouser leg like she had only yesterday for me and shows her the huge, swollen bruise which looks even worse in daylight. She then lifted her shirt and for the first time I see the purple marks across her body where Brendon had kicked her and as she looks at them Georgia begins to cry, silently. It’s safe to say that the police officer is shocked to say the least at what she sees and she asks if she could take pictures and after a little encouragement from me Georgia agreed. After that there are a few more questions about home life before the incident and then the officer says that it would be best if Georgia stays with us for a while before leaving and saying that she will be in touch but just before she’s out the door Georgia calls her back.

“Wait! Promise me that you won’t let him get away with this? Please?” She begs and Judy gives her an assuring smile.

“I will do as much as I can and more to make sure that he never hurts anyone again.” And Georgia smiles sadly and nods before saying thank you and allowing Judy to leave.

Judy has advised my mum to take Georgia to the hospital to get her bruises checked out and so that’s where we go, she has three crack ribs apparently and she’s given some medication for the pain and told not to wear anything too tight. Although one of the side effects of the medication is sleep so after her first dose she falls asleep on me in the car on the way home and I’m quite glad because she needs the rest. Since Georgia isn’t too heavy I carry her into the house and lay her down on my bed, I have never been more thankful for having gym classes twice a week. Once I’m happy that she’s sleeping soundly I go back downstairs and curl up on the sofa. It’s then that I realise that the girls don’t know but I don’t know whether Georgia wants them to know yet, so I decide that that can wait since they aren’t coming to the show tonight because Charlie’s behind on work apparently, although I suspect that Charlie’s mum doesn’t want her hanging around the guys too much. Jade has managed to get a modelling job with a magazine and so she’s doing a late night shoot for that which we’re all really proud of her for and Halli’s going to support her. So I go into the screening room and decide to watch something that will make me smile but as I go through the DVDs there’s nothing that I really want to watch.
