Mia’s POV
Over the next two weeks, I gradually got better and better with the house. I could now spend the whole day in there but I still couldn’t bring myself to spend the night, I didn’t want to have to sleep in that house without Niall’s arms around me to protect me. So I spent most of my days with Niall at ‘my’ house, but I still spent the nights with him at his.
We had finally found a way to help me get over my fear, I needed to replace the bad memory with lots of good ones, Niall made that a lot easier, just by being with me he made me feel happier. Well it was Wednesday and we had spent the last two days watching movies at ‘my’ house, but today I wanted to do something different. Niall had told me a while back that he had never baked a cake, so that was my challenge, to bake a cake with Niall.
We are now on Wednesday 4th August, I couldn’t believe how much time had passed already, I knew that the summer had to end sometime, but I really didn’t want it to, I could spend the rest of my life in this summer and be quite content. My parents and I had got here one month ago, it seems like only yesterday when I first met Niall, if only, then we would still have 9 weeks together, but no, time doesn’t work like that.
These are the thoughts that are going through my head as I lay in Niall’s arms on the morning of Wednesday 4th August. Niall’s still fast asleep with his body flush against mine as I gaze up at the ceiling wishing time to slow down. Niall starts to stir next to me and I turn my face to see his eyes flutter open and adjust to the faintly lit room.
“Good morning.” I whisper softly to him.
“Good morning gorgeous.” He says with a sleep ridden smile, when he says those words to me every morning, I get shivers, I just love his accent so much.
“I know what I want to do today.” I say with a smile.
“Really? And what’s that?” He asks me before kissing me gently on the cheek.
“I want to bake a cake.” I say simply.
“Really? Even after what happened the last time that we tried to cook together?” He asks me with a cheeky grin and a raised eyebrow.
“Especially because of what happened the last time.” I say with a grin, making him chuckle.
After that we both get up, washed and dressed before eating our breakfast back in bed, as per usual, we then make our way downstairs and out of the front door. We cross the road in our usual manner of holding hands and Niall making faces to make me laugh.
We enter the house and go straight into the kitchen. Before we start I have to check if we have all of the ingredients but I know that this will be a task that I will have to undertake by myself since Niall only knows that there’s flour, butter and eggs in it. Thankfully there is enough of all of the ingredients so I begin to instruct Niall in what he needs to do. We start by making the butter icing that will go in the middle, and surprisingly we get through it without any mishaps. But then it’s time to make the cake mix. Once we have got most of the ingredients in the bowl, it’s time to add the flour.
“Can you open the flour please?” I say to Niall as I wash my hands, washing away the remnants of the eggs. I see him nod and he grabs the unopened packet of flour. He doesn’t, however, think to use scissors so he tries to tear it open with his hands, I attempt to tell him to use scissors as I run across the kitchen to try to stop the flour from exploding out of the top…but I get there a second too late. As soon as I’m next to him the bag flies open and the flour goes everywhere from the jerking action that it’s just undertaken as the bag ripped. Niall and I are covered, from head to foot, in flour. I turn to face him, blinking the flour out of my eyes. He looks at me in shock but as soon as he takes in my appearance, he bursts out laughing, I have to admit that he looks pretty funny as well, as much as I want to be mad at him, his laughter is too infectious. Within seconds I’m doubled over laughing along with him. The kitchen is also covered in the fine white powder and I’m so grateful that my parents are working today, my mum would have died if she saw the mess that’s now her kitchen. How Niall and I are going to clear this up, I have no clue.
