Chapter 19

Niall’s POV

I freeze as I see Liam standing there, I expect him to be shocked or confused or maybe even angry, but he just stands there with a smile on his face.

“Liam, I…I can explain…” I begin as I gently lift Mia off my lap.

“No need mate, I lied earlier, I heard a bit of your conversation, I already know about you two, but what I don’t understand is why you’re hiding it.” He says moving further into the room. I sit there gaping at him, he knows? He knows and he didn’t tell me?

“Why didn’t you say anything to me?” I ask in disbelief.

“Because, you didn’t want to talk about it and I respect people’s personal lives.” I say with a shrug. “Now are you going to tell me what all of this is about, or do I have to pretend like this never happened?” He asks taking a seat.

“Mia?” I hear Harry call and there’s no way that I want more than one of them to know just yet, but then I don’t really want her to be out there with the guys because I can see that Harry’s interested in her, but if I want to tell Liam, then Mia will have to go outside.

“Go.” I say and she looks at me in confusion. “It’s fine Mia I’ll tell him.” I give her a small smile and she gives me an encouraging look and a quick kiss on the cheek before going out to Harry.

“I’m here, I was just checking my phone.” I hear her say before she’s gone.

“So?” Liam prompts, looking at me expectantly.

I take a deep breath before I begin to explain everything about Mia and I as well as her parents and their jobs and how that could complicate things, and the whole time Liam listens with a thoughtful expression and no interruptions.

“…and now I’m scared that if I tell everyone then they will think that the only reason that I got through was because I am dating the daughter of two people that work on the show.” I finish and then wait for Liam to respond.

“Mate, that’s hard, but I think that if you don’t tell people then it will only strain your relationship with Mia but I understand why you feel that you can’t tell anyone but I think that the guys would understand.” I nod slowly, thankful that he’s taken the news so well. “But at the end of the day, that’s a decision that you and Mia have to make together and if you choose that you don’t want the others to know yet, then I will be there for you and not tell them because it isn’t my place, but when the time comes for you to tell them then I will help you if you want.” He says with a smile and I nod again.

“Thanks Liam, it means a lot and I’m sure Mia will be grateful too, I just need the chance to talk to her alone.” I say looking down at my lap.

“Well I can help with that, you know how easily distracted they can be, I’ll organise a football game or something, 4 against 4 and then you can say that you want to sit out and hopefully Mia will do the same and the girls seem like they will be up for it.” I nod in agreement.

“Thanks, don’t worry the girls already know so they should go along with it if you tell them.” I suggest and he nods his head before standing up and walking out, I follow him while trying to think of what to say if they ask me where I’ve been, I just hope that they can’t tell that I have been crying, but nobody asks as I sit down where I was before and watch everyone having fun, but I have to look away at some points as Harry gets Mia back on his shoulders for a wrestling fight but she glances at me and I can see the worry in her face, so I smile at her to let her know that I’m ok with it even though I know that I’m not.

“Come on guys, how about a game of football? Harry, Louis, Halli and Charlie on one team and Me, Zayn, Georgia and Jade on the other.” Liam says with a quick glance at Mia and then me, she seems to get the message since she comes and sits next to me. I watch as they all climb out of the pool not even bothering to dry off before running straight onto the grass. Louis as always has a football out and has started kicking it around. I notice Harry looking over at Mia but she isn’t looking at him, she seems to be laughing her adorable laugh at something else and I follow her gaze to Charlie.
