Chapter 8
|CHANEL POV|
No matter how hard I tried to calm Jaden down, nothing seemed to work.
"I just can't believe this right now..." he sighed.
"Everything's going to be okay."
"Okay?! I might be going to jail for 11 years and missing out on my daughters life and everything's okay?! You don't understand what it's like to be in prison Chanel! you know why? BECAUSE I WENT IN FOR YOU! I took the damn blame back when we were teenagers because I didn't want you to fuck your life up. I sacrificed MY LIFE just so you can earn a better one. And I sure as hell ain't doin that shit again. FOR SOMEBODY ELSE. " He said.
"Why can't you just push that shit to the side and move on with your life?! Okay you went to prison for me, but did you have to? NO! it was your damn decision. So stop putting the pressure on me like I forced you into it! Grow up!"
He stood up and glanced at me in rage.
"I AM GROWN! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING IM GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW! ALL YOU CAN DO IS TALK, TALK, TALK BUT YOU CAN'T LIVE THROUGH IT AND EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOUR DAMN SELF."
Come on man, we just had a baby and here he goes yelling my ear off. I'm still sore from all that pushing. My body aches in every place possible and he's just making matters worse.
Not too long after, I heard Jayda screaming.
"You woke her up with your big ass mouth!" I yelled.
I left the room angrily and went into her room, picking her up and cradling her.
"Shh..." I cooed.
I laid her down on the changing table and changed her, since her pamper was heavy.
Afterwards, I breastfed her and burped her, laying her back down.
Then I went downstairs and decided to clean up the things that were trashed, and make lunch.
While I was eating and watching TV, I heard Jaden walk downstairs and sit down next to me.
"Aye.." he called.
I didn't even acknowledge him. I just continued to eat and watch my show.
"Babe.."
No answer.
"Chanel! I know you hear me."
Nothing.
He grabbed the remote and turned the TV off.
"The hell you do that for?!" I said.
"Stop ignoring me! you know I hate that shit!"
I just rolled my eyes.
"I don't feel like arguing with you right now Jaden. You have no idea how much pain I'm in right now." I said.
"I didn't come down here to argue. I came down here to talk to you."
"About what."
"I'm sorry for yellin at you like that. I was just losing control and I felt like I had nothing in my reach. We just had Jayda and I don't want to start off her first day home like this." He said.
"Why did you have to bring up the past though.." I said.
"I was angry. I'm still angry, but I'm trying to contain that before I lose you or my babygirl. I love you." he said.
"I love you too. And you won't ever lose me, or Jay."
"I hope. I need you to call Marissa for me."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I need to talk to her! and find out if the Feds got my gun."
I sighed and pulled out my phone, dialing her number. After a long explanation, she finally agreed to come over and talk.
I heard Jayda's cries from upstairs and I jogged upstairs and picked her up, cradling her.
I carried her downstairs with me and there was a knock on the door. Jaden opened it and Marissa was standing there with a slightly feared look.
"Hey.." I said.
"Hey. How's jayda?" she smiled.
"She's good. A little whiny, but I guess it's natural."
"She's so pretty." she cheered.
"Thanks." I laughed.
"Marissa." Jaden said sternly.
She sighed and sat down on the single couch. "Yeah?"
"Did you drop the gun after you shot Moises?"
She scrunched her eyebrows and looked up, thinking about it. "Y-yeah I think. Why?"
"Because when you called the paramedics, I'm guessing the police were involved and there is a high possibility that they took that gun." he said.
"Um okay? and?"
She really seemed like she didn't care and it was pissing Jaden off, I could just tell in his eyes and whole demeanor.
"My fingerprints is on that! once they check it and figure it all out, YOUR ass is in jail and MINE is too for keeping an unlicensed weapon." he growled. "You know what else? their going to assume I shot Moises because of my past. Do you have a criminal record? no."
She fiddled with her fingers. "I didn't think about that." she mumbled.
"Of course you didnt! because you ain't got no damn common sense! After you shot the nigga, HAVE SOME FUCKING SENSE AND PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT!" he yelled in anger.
"Jaden!" I yelled.
"What." he growled.
"Stop yelling so loud.." I said trying to cradle Jayda.
He looked at her and his expression softened. "Sorry." he sighed.
"I was scared!" Marissa yelled back. "I wasn't thinking about the stupid ass gun being yours or where it belonged, I was thinking 'damn is Moises going to kill me?' 'Is he gonna go that far?' I was scared for my life, because I know how angry that man gets when he's pissed and he was PISSED!"
"Is that my problem? No. You should've called the police as soon as he put his hands on you instead of staying with him." Jaden said.
Marissa wiped a tear from her eye and looked off to the side trying her hardest not to break down.
"I'm just tired of worrying about other peoples lives, Marissa! I gotta make sure my daughter is okay and healthy, my wife! You think I got time to be dealing with you? Hell no! I keep my circle small because I KNOW somebody can turn on you any second." he said.
"You don't have to worry about me! yeah, worry about your fucking family and NOT ME LIKE ALWAYS! you think I care if you don't care about me? I couldn't give a fuck! Your ass needs to be in jail along with Moises. I already see it coming, your going to be just like him." she shook her head, squinting harshly.
I widened my eyes and tried my hardest not to burst out and say something out of anger. I was just about to, but of course, Jaden took over.
"Excuse me? you know what, before I even say anything, I'm going to need you to exit. NOW!" he yelled standing up.
She stood up as well and crossed her arms. "It's true, right?"
"I'm going to say it one more time." Jaden growled. "Get. the fuck. out. of. my. house."
"Really chanel? your gonna let him talk to me like this?" she looked at me.
"Did you hear what you just said a couple minutes ago? and you expect me to defend you? Yeah, you can exit stage left." I rolled my eyes, getting up.
She looked back at Jaden who still had his angry glare on her, and turned around to leave. Before she did she said, "and I hope they do find your fingerprint on it! so you can be locked up for good!" she yelled.
He slammed the door and fumed to the refrigerator, getting a bottle of beer, gulping it down.
"Babe.. don't start. Please." I pleaded.
He looked at me with eyes of rage and sorrow, and clenched his jaw.
"Do you really think I'm going to be like Moises?" he asked.
"No! of course not."
"I wouldn't dare lay a hand on you, okay?" he kissed my cheek. "I know." I said.
He slowly took Jayda out of my hands and put her over his shoulder. "I'm going to go have a talk with my daughter." he said.
I giggled. "You know she can't talk right?"
"Yes she can." he said going upstairs.
My phone was ringing from the table and I picked it up and noticed Jayla was calling.
I answered immediately.
"Hello?"
J-"hey boo!"
C-"hey!"
J-"how's it going?"
C-"good I guess... man it's harder than you think Jayla." *laughs*
J-"really?"
C-"yes like almost every second she's crying or whining for something!"
J-"well I mean she's a baby! what's she doing right now?"
C-"upstairs with her dad."
J-"you know tonight is gonna be worse."
C-"yeah." (groans)
J-"hey since it's our last day here, can me Jordan and your dad come over tonight for dinner?"
C-"sure!"
J-"yess okay girl I'll tell your dad. I'll call you back later."
C-"okay. Bye."
J-"bye."
I hung up and went upstairs peeking into our bedroom to see Jaden holding Jayda above his head, talking to her on the bed.
"Okay baby? daddy loves you and mommy with all his heart. Even if I might go away for a while, I still love my baby." he kissed her on the forehead and she just bobbled her head and looked around the room with her fingers in her mouth.
"Oh and just to let you know, you ain't having no type of boyfriend until you 35. You hear me?" He said in a strict tone.
Does he really think she understands him?
I giggled to myself and Jayda started to whine. "Aaaauuuuwwaa.." she poked out her bottom lip.
"Aw.." I whispered, with a smile on my face.
"Come on baby, boyfriends are bad! they hurt you, and cause trouble. You don't want that do you?" he asked.
"Jaden really?" I asked, opening the door all the way.
He looked over at me and chuckled. "what?"
I rolled my eyes and laid next to him. He laid her down on his chest and rubbed her back.
"Jayla, jordan, and my dad are coming over for dinner.." I said.
"That's nice." he nodded.
I seen Jayda staring at me and I looked at her and smiled. i kissed her cheek and she cheesed, showing her gums.
"Aw babe she smiled!" I said excitedly.
"Oh it's like that Jay?" he scrunched up his face. "You can smile for her, but not me? aright I see how it is." he nodded.
I laughed. "Don't be mad."
Later on, everybody was now here for dinner. Jayda was upstairs in her crib asleep, and everybody was sitting at the table.
"Is she being a good girl?" My dad asked.
"Somewhat." I answered.
"She'll probably be just like you. Wakin up in the middle of the night for about a week."
"Ugh, I hope not."
"I'll take care of it though." Jaden shrugged.
I smiled. "See I got a good man." I said.
I heard my phone ring from upstairs and I excused myself from the table to go and grab it. It was an unknown number. I scrunched my eyebrows and answered it, putting it by my ear.
"Hello?"
"Chanel."
I widened my eyes.
"Diggy? I thought you were in jail."
"Yeah, I am. I only got five minutes to talk to you."
"Why are you calling me for?!"
"I miss you. I heard you um..had your baby."
"Yeah, so."
"That's good. Is she healthy?"
"Yes she is very fine." I snarled. "Look, I have a dinner to get to, don't call my phone back."
Before he could say anything else, I hung up. How did he even remember my number?
I walked back downstairs, forcing a smile upon my face.
"Everything okay?" Jaden asked, looking at me.
"Y-yep." I said, widening my eyes at the fact that I stuttered.
He gave me a weird look and I decided to change the subject.
"Sooo! Jordan, hows school going?" I asked.
"Good actually. I graduated like a few months ago."
"That's nice." I smiled.
"What do you work as now, Jaden?" my dad asked.
"Psychiatrist." Jaden nodded.
"Oh okay." he nodded. "And chanel..?"
"RN. I'm thinking about changing to an um..school nurse." I cleared my throat.
"Oh that's nice." he smiled.
Jaden squinted his eyes at me and shook his head.
I heard Jayda crying from upstairs.
"She's probably hungry." I said, getting up. I went into the fridge and heated up some breast milk in a bottle on the bottle heater. Afterwards, I covered the bottle and tipped it over, making sure it wasn't too hot. I shook it up and walked upstairs.
She was squirming around in her bassinet, crying hard. "Aww baby.." I picked her up and sat on the rocking chair, placing the nipple into her mouth.
She latched onto it and slurped the whole entire bottle down within five minutes.
I set the bottle down and held her on my lap. I rubbed her back lightly.
"Eerrr." she let out a burp.
"Whoo!" I giggled.
I kissed her cheek and placed her down into her bassinet. Her eyes closed slowly and she fell right back to sleep.
I went downstairs to see everyone has finished their dinner.
Jaden helped wash the dishes and I gave my family a hug goodbye before they left out the door.
"You just about finished?" I asked, wiping the table off.
"Yeah." he said.
He turned the water off and dried his hands, looking at me. "What was all that about chanel?" he asked.
"What are talking about?"
"That dinner. First you go upstairs to answer a phone call and you look suspicious as hell when you come back down, then-"
"Just because I answered a phone call! come on Jaden."
"It didn't seem like just a phone call."
"What else could it have possibly been then, huh?" I crossed my arms.
He shrugged and I pushed past him, washing my hands. "Exactly."
"And then you say your thinking about being a school nurse? you never told me about that!"
"Well maybe I was waiting for the right time!" I said.
"I'm your husband, you should be able to tell me anything."
"Yeah well.." I looked down.
"Why do you wanna give up an RN?"
"I don't know! I just like the fact of being a school nurse, and I already have my degree for it anyway."
"Elementary school...right?" he asked.
"No, highschool." I mumbled.
He gave me a sharp look. "Seriously?"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Those damn hormonal teen boys is what's wrong with it! Once they see you, they'll think of all the possible ways to go to the nurse. I don't want you around that."
"So I can't do what I wanna do?"
"I didn't say that. You should just consider something else, or keep your job." he said.
I rolled my eyes and walked upstairs. I think he was just overreacting. Me being a school nurse at a highschool is nothing major. I'm just helping out sick people, that's all! sometimes I think Jaden gets way too jealous.
I hopped in the shower. The first shower I ever felt since I got back from the hospital, and it feels so damn good.
I must've been in there for a while, because when I got out, I saw Jaden laying on the bed knocked out, and Jayda was laying on top of him.
"Aw.." I giggled. I couldn't help but take a picture.
I took it and saved it as my screensaver.
Once I got dressed in one of Jadens big T-shirts and a pair of panties, I laid on the bed and cuddled up next to my babies.
Meanwhile...
|POLICE OFFICE|
"Hey Myers, did you ever get a call from the CIB on that gun?" Detective Raiders asked.
"Ahh yes, they called earlier. And you won't believe who the fingerprints belong to." Myers smiled.
"Who?"
"Jaden Smith."
"Well that explains it. It was in HIS house. And judging on his past, I'm pretty sure we have enough evidence." Raiders said.
"Not quite though." Myers sighed. "There's another two people that they found."
"Who?" he asked.
"Chanel smith and Marissa Arias."
"Wait, huh? who are they?"
"I really don't know! But if they're fingerprints are on it too, it couldn't have just been Jaden. Maybe not even him."

When Marissa was rummaging through Jaden's weapons, she just happened to choose the one that Chanel used to kill Jessica with years ago. THATS why Chanel's fingerprints are on the gun as well. Just their luck.
